Re: kernel 6.8.0-44 installation failed
I see... maybe you need to install Mint again... but this is only to make sure the freezes are not caused by Mesa-devel driver... maybe something else is the cause. 6.8.0-40 for example was causing some Nvidia hardware to freeze, yet 6.8.0-39 and 6.8.0-41 were unaffected (you can see this person's r...

Re: Cannot get my RX 7900XTX to display correctly
https://i.postimg.cc/zvbMgH7B/MSI-Snap-Shot.png ??? That is a picture from an MSI motherboard ??? Why did you check the file name lol. It indeed is MSI but the same AM5 platform as OP. So this option could also be around there (Settings -> Advanced -> Integrated Graphics Configuration) for OP as we...

API: OpenGL v: 4.6 compat-v: 4.5 vendor: amd mesa v: 24.1.0-devel Did the default driver that came with Mint 22 cause freezes? Is that why you have installed another Mesa version? Do you have a Timeshift after clean Linux installation before adding these PPAs to the system? Active apt repos in: /et...

Re: kernel 6.8.0-44 installation failed
Also - WHY are you installing 6.8 kernel? I installed Linux two weeks ago, it came with 6.8.0-41. Some times the screen freezes and the only way to recover is by holding the power button to power off... I wanted to try another kernel version, that's it. I'm a noob, I don't know if it was a good cal...

Re: Cannot get my RX 7900XTX to display correctly
And that's why I asked about IGFX Multi-Monitor, which has a "Hybrid" setting in some mobos from what I read. You indeed are correct. For my B650 there is (and I think it was enabled by default, can't remember): Settings -> Advanced -> Integrated Graphics Configuration https://i.postimg.c...

Device-2: NVIDIA AD106 [GeForce RTX 4060 Ti] vendor: Micro-Star MSI driver: nouveau v: kernel As you can see here, you are using the open source nouveau driver which is incredibly slower compared to official Nvidia drivers. Please open Driver Manager, then choose a Nvidia driver from the list (you ...

Re: Steam don't open games on Proton
Depends on the games... are the games slow as in low FPS or they take too long to load? Your performance on both of these should be almost on par with Windows (some games even faster, some slower). But regarding loading screens, that should not have any difference to Windows. Also in compilation tim...

Re: Steam don't open games on Proton
You need to move those options to the above line. The line that has "nosuid,nodev,...,x-gvfs-show" in it. But do 2 changes please: Remove UUID=... because you already have set "by-uuid" in the below options. In "Punto di mount", remove everything . Only leave this: /mnt...

Re: Hard Crashing
I was having freezing issues where the PC would be non-responsive after being left idle on the desktop. Generally Steam, Discord, Firefox, and Nemo would be open. The monitors would still show everything, it was just totally non-responsive. The "fix" for this based on what I could find ot...

Hi, UUID=26E24E307C591D54 /mnt/ntfs auto umask=0775,uid=1000,gid=1000,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0 You also have to edit it in fstab because I did it with disk management. Thanks for your patience Please also add ( as instructed by Valve ) rw,user, exec to the options above: UUID=26E24E307C591D54 /mnt/ntfs ...

Re: Hard Crashing
I think we can rule out EXPO and Cooler Control (since you only use it for fan speed and your temps are also fine). We can rule out EXPO because if you want to clear CMOS, it already will be disabled. Although your GPU Mem temp is a bit high... (I mean if they reach above 100 C not right now on 90)....

Re: Hard Crashing
Hello In your second code provided (crash report) please remove your "Machine ID" from it as I've read on Kernel docs before that it should be treated as confidential... you do not need that for troubleshooting... I see you have "Coolercontrol" installed. Are you using custom fan...

Re: desktop icons very slow to respond
Hi, First is your PC fully updated? Any updates available in Update Manager? You need to check system logs to better understand what's going on... After this problem happens, open a terminal (ctrl + alt + t) and type: sudo dmesg -T Pay attention to the end of the logs: if you see anything that seems...

Re: Linux Kernel ignorance...
Hi, Do you see these newer/older kernels in Update Manager -> View -> Kernels ? If so, these kernels are compatible with your version of Linux Mint. Some older kernels are there as backups in case your current kernel fails somehow... you can delete them if you want but would be wise to keep 1 old an...
