ok, thanks for the info, im still wondering about WUBI, do i need the install to be on a dvd instead of a flash drive for WUBI to work or is WUBI no more these days? WUBI is no more... sorry it took so long, took me a few days to get this thing back up and running, i ended up having to do a factory recovery on it so this is the original setup, then it proceded to update to windows 8.1. it seems to be running ok now so im trying to decide if i should just forget windows 7 and leave...

I figured it out. I had no problems running it in Ultimate Edition the way it was explained in the help file

but Mint is a little different i had had to type it

Not sure where to post this? not sure if it is a bug or not but I cannot seem to close firefox using the X button in the upper right. it does nothing. I have to close by right clicking in the task bar and choosing close. Anyone else run accross this?
