Re: Full of Problem, need a help please...

Thank you AlexSlocker, it means that I really need to backup my data first, before it's too late.
I will try to install it with another distros, or maybe try with another harddisk drive and give a report about the results.

Thanks

Re: Full of Problem, need a help please...

I am really sure, I have opened the gnome partition manager and I can see my root partition, but Linux says it as an unknown partition. I think this is the main problem that make my Linux can't find the GRUB. No Husse, I still didn't manage to boot. Or maybe the problem is on the hardware, maybe its...

Re: Full of Problem, need a help please...

Thanks newW2, but it seems like Linux didn't recognize my root partition, and while I'm running via liveCD I can not mount my root partition, so I can't access those files. I asked uncle Google about this " GRUB error 17 " and I found that it happened because Linux didn't recognize the root/boot par...

Re: Full of Problem, need a help please...

Thanks Husse, but what should I do then? The problem starts after I hit the Ctrl+Alt+Backspace key, it doesn't restart the GNOME and I got an error message " Could not start the X server bla bla bla.... ". After restart it, it seems like my root partition is not detected ( unknown partition ) ...

Hi... I really don't understand, currently I'm trying to install Cassandra 3.0 on my computer. But problems keep on showing... After installation progress, I can't reboot into GNOME. Linux says that my root partition is currently in read-only mode and need to run fsck manually, so I do the following...

Re: Cannot enter my GNOME

When I try to boot normally, it gives me an error message like this /dev/hda1: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck manually. (i.e.; without -a or -p options) [FAILED] Give root password for maintenance (or type Control-D for normal startup): So I restart and boot under recovery mode, and after it sho...

Thanks Boo... And it's just like Lolo Uila and Husse said, all I need to do is burn the installer again and the problem solved. Now I can get in to the live cd. But it's a little strange since I can still use my "corrupt" cd to install Mint on another computer, and I can install Mint on my computer ...

Yes I got the error message when booting off the CD.
So I don't even get in to the live desktop. Right after the Mint progress bar, the error message comes up.
I'm using Linux Mint Cassandra main edition or GNOME edition.

Hi everyone... I tried install Linux Mint Cassandra on my SATA drive, but it seems like the installer looking for the IDE drive not the SATA. Hi...
Can anyone tell me how to disable/ turn off the auto update system in Mint?
I'd like to update my Mint machine manually (via sudo apt-get update command).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like the problem is on your smb.conf. You can check here : http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4974 On terminal : $ cd /etc/samba $ sudo cp smb.conf smb.conf-backup $ sudo gedit smb.conf The main change is on security=user line, change into security = share and activate the guest...

The problem might be on your ~/.smb/fusesmb.conf . I had a similar problem with you, and I did this (on terminal): $ sudo gedit /home/your_home/.smb/fusesmb.conf (enter) save and exit $ fusesmb.cache (enter) Before you edit your fusesmb.conf, check the manual first : $ man fusesmb.conf . Try to type
smb://your_workgroup/computer_name
on file location (I've tried this on totem movie player).
Maybe it can help a little.

Yes the main thing is I can use the network without problem. But when I try to search a file in a remote system, I need it to be accessed as a local files (in ~/Network folder) since I couldn't type smb://server on my currently search program (I'm using catfish).
