THOSE ARE NOT MOUNTS.

semantics matter. but I said it 3 times now, I'm outta here, gl further.
SO WHAT!?!

"User home directories are excluded by default unless you enable them here."

Tell me what part of that you don't get and we can proceed if you want.

Re: Timeshift's Absurd Space Requirements?

Yeah. You looked up the wrong definition, the definition you should have looked up is "playing semantics", not "semantics". What I was responding to was this: "Timeshift only automatically excludes mounts in /mnt and /media..." And for the sake of accuracy: This is simply wrong. I can't speak for Ti...

Re: Timeshift's Absurd Space Requirements?

Timeshift only automatically excludes mounts in /mnt and /media, everything else is your own responsibility to exclude. Not true. Wrong. The post says "excludes mounts" <--- mounts. Wrong. The post also says " everything else is your own responsibility to exclude. " <--- everything else That's demo...

Not true. On both my mint installations, Timeshift automatically excluded all home folders.

Re: Timeshift's Absurd Space Requirements?

Nevermind, I figured it out. When I installed Mint, I formatted a secondary partition and called it "/storage". I use this for my home directory via symlinks. Once I filtered out /storage/**, the absurd space requirements went away. This is interesting because everything on storage is, in a sense, t...

Timeshift's Absurd Space Requirements?

Why does Timeshift demand over 260 Gigabytes of free space for an installation that only uses 26 Gigs?!? All home directories are excluded.

Thanks. I'm no command line wizard, but I tend to do everything apt related via the command line.

I dont know if the bad commit exists even in the newest 4.4 kernel so you might want to install it to get the latest security updates.
Sorry to be uninformed, but where do I obtain the latest 4.4 kernel for Mint?

Re: Is Bluetooth functional in Linux Mint 19?

Installing 4.17 didn't work. A needed dependency wasn't available in the 16.04 repository. Booted into 4.4.0-64-generic
and Bluetooth is working. :)

It's comforting to hear that the problem originated with Athero rather than Linux devs. I was really beginning to feel down on the whole Linux project.

Re: Is Bluetooth functional in Linux Mint 19?

Am using:

4.16.0-041600-generic

From here:

I think, at one time, I may have tried to fix this issue by updating to the latest kernel. Obviously didn't work.

Yeah, maybe I'm getting old but always having to "fix things" is itself getting old. All I want is something that just works. Anyway, poor me. Is Bluetooth functional in Linux Mint 19?

Have been using Linux Mint 18 since its first release. At first, Bluetooth worked beautifully. With each update, bluetooth has gotten worse until it simply doesn't work any more. Can't even find my bluetooth adapter. Utterly broken. Have been using Linux for the last 12 years and am actually conside...

Re: Trying to SSH TUNNEL but need assistance...

Thank you both for taking the time out to answer. :) Know it's not a Linux Mint issue so I doubly appreciate that. And thank you for the tip on port 22 & 80. I *am* using SOCKS proxy with Foxy Proxy on Firefox & Chrome, hence the D switch. Picked this all up from Nixie Pixie https://www.youtube.com/...

Trying to SSH TUNNEL but need assistance...

So, if any of you are somewhat knowledgeable as far as setting up SSH, I'd love some help. So, I have a little Cubox-i that I use as a server for SSH Tunneling (like a VPN). With my old router, I set it up and successfully used it. Flash forward to a new router, which may not may not be the culprit....

Re: Softmaker Freeoffice 2018

Worth knowing: They haven't updated their Android version yet. The paid version is called Android HD, but for all intents and purposes its a full blown version of Textmaker 2016 for Android. However, Android HD can't open the new TMDX file format of SO 2018. So there's that. This just means that if ...

Re: Softmaker Freeoffice 2018

Have been increasingly using Textmaker since 2016. The reason is that I've been dabbling with Ebooks. LibreOffice's devs, unfortunately, don't attach much importance to EBook authoring and were actually out and out hostile to e-book related feature requests that veered from what they consider their ...

Re: LightDM not displaying background image...

I couldn't get any of the solutions, offered so far, to work. Not worth the time. Switched back to MDM.

And just noticed that Ubuntu dropped LightDM in favor of GDM. Remains to be seen how much of a future LightDM has... None at all on my Cinnamon install... :)
