Re: [Solved] Would like a good looking and fully functional screensaver on linux Mint 21
It would be so nice if they would add this functionality back into cinnamon-screensaver, like it used to be. The xscreensaver lock screen is hideous! I really want the current cinnamon-screensaver login screen with the option to use xscreensaver plugins put back in, personally.

Re: Online Accounts, "expired" Google account cannot be resumed
An expired Google account means that the account has been inactive for a certain period of time and Google has deactivated it. If your Google account has been deactivated due to inactivity, it may not be possible to resume it, as Google's policy is to periodically clean up inactive accounts to free...

Re: Online Accounts, "expired" Google account cannot be resumed
I haven't tried it yet, but here's a post that might give us a possible (albeit messy) workaround: viewtopic.php?t=306587

Re: Online Accounts, "expired" Google account cannot be resumed
I've run into this problem constantly. Logout/login often makes Online Accounts lose its ability to connect. It only reconnects after a full system reboot.

Re: Help managing power and speed
If that's all you've done -- now unaccountably entangled and calling for help -- then those "widely recommended" tools deserve a hazard warning. Yeah, that's pretty much all I've done, aside from switching the CPU governor (which goes back to its default ondemand mode when rebooting) and ...

Re: Help managing power and speed
Ok. I tried out powertop. Seems to work with my AMD system, and reading about it shows it should work on any ACPI system and just has additional controls for Intel-specific systems. That said, before I do anything with powertop, I need to get my computer back to its previous fully-working baseline s...

Help managing power and speed
I have a gaming laptop, which up to this point has worked great for games and video production on Linux. However, I've got two problems... 1. The ASUS website says this machine should get up to 11 hours of battery life. A PC Mag review said they averaged about 8 to 9 hours. Of course, that's on Wind...

Re: Something desperately needed in Linux
It could be the graphics, not having any laptops with a discrete video card, is there a way to just use internal graphics? I know POP!_OS does a pretty decent job with that, but I cannot address Mint at all. Thank you for the suggestion! Yes, you are correct. I had my dual graphics system set to on...

Re: Something desperately needed in Linux
Agreed. On my ASUS TUF A17 gaming laptop, the ASUS website claims an 11-hour battery life. PC Mag reviewed it at more like 8 to 9 hours, which is still good. On Linux Mint, I get about 2 to 3 hours, which is extremely frustrating when I have to use it on-the-go. It seems like it's shutting itself of...

Re: Mint-X Dark Mode?
Depends what desktop you are using but there's a Mint-X Dark for Cinnamon (be warned it's not been updated in 4 years so may not work with Mint 20 or 21) https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/themes/view/Mint-X-Dark Yeah, that doesn't work. It's done the old way and not GTK 3 compliant. It doesn't ...

Mint-X Dark Mode?
I normally use Mint-X because I've never really liked the flat theme trend. But I also like dark themes sometimes. Now that Mint-X can switch to dark mode for applications that request it, is it possible to force Mint-X into dark mode permanently, for all applications? I haven't found a way to do so...

Update Manager can't refresh package list only at startup
Since about LM 20.2 or so, the Update Manager has been giving me a red exclamation point symbol at startup. It says it can't refresh the list of updates. But when I open it and manually refresh them, it's fine and continues to be fine until the next reboot. I thought maybe it's starting too soon, an...

Re: Bluetooth Earbud Problems
Not really much help to you, but the bottom line is Linux doesn't really do convenient wireless anything. I never got my earbuds to work properly (i.e. with microphone). I got a different set. Seems to work ok. No mic in these, though, which is fine. As for screen casting - well that's best left un...

Kernel problem
I'm running Linux Mint 20.2 on an ASUS TUF Gaming laptop from mid- to late-2020. It has a Ryzen 7 APU with Vega 7 integrated GPU and NVIDIA GTX 1650 dedicated GPU. I'm using the open source AMD drivers for the Vega 7, and the proprietary NVIDIA-470 drivers for the GTX 1650. This laptop's hardware is...
