Re: Black Splash Screen = Bad Idea..

download and install via synaptic plymouth-theme-mint-logo plymouth-theme-mint-text You will notice natty also has the splash removed, for a reason. Natty changed how the startup took place with GPU drivers via kernel. Works fine on most systems to use the splash, on some it does not. Arv3n - might...

Black Splash Screen = Bad Idea..

just reeks of unprofessionalism to me. can't get the splash screen working so make it pure black. Genius! i mean, i get text during boot and everything so its not even a black screen but a terminal with black text then switches to a black screen. edit: i don't want to seem mad, because i'm really no...

Re: How to setup Firefox 4 in Mint

That's a lot to do when all you need to do is add the repository and have the system do an update. Much quicker and less hassle. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable Then perform update. Your directions may help for those who use LMDE perhaps though since the above requires being ...

Re: If it works in Ubuntu does that mean it works in Mint?

Simple question: Do things that work in Ubuntu always work in Mint? Maybe it would be better to say: "Can we expect that things that work in Ubuntu... etc" Question is based on the fact that Mint is calimed to be the offspring of Ubuntu. I'm sure Ubuntu users probably regard it as a basta...

Re: which wine version?

Hey I was wondering if the jaunty version of wine will work with mint since mint is based off of jaunty. If not do I just need to wait til they come out with a version of wine for mint or is there a better way to run a windows program. I only need it for two programs: Rosetta Stone, and a swim team...

Re: Gnome Mint and Ubuntu

I am not getting into an argument over Fedora - I don't like it and I never have. When a new one comes out I always look at it in the vain hope that it might have improved, but it usually lasts less than a day before I wipe the partition it lives on. This gives me enough time to confirm that I stil...

Re: Amazon released MP3 Downloader for Linux

@above: yes, I did it on Ubuntu x64. you need ia32-libs, ia32-libmdns (i think this is the package name -- its so mp3 downloader can access the internet), and maybe a few other libs. search it on google. thats what i did.

Migrating to Linux Mint

Hello world, I've migrated to Linux Mint, today. I just have a few questions: 1) I've installed CNR, is there any way to change "Software Portal" in Mint Menu to a link opening Firefox and CNR.com? 2) What is the best programming language in Linux to start out with, and what is the best ID...

Upgrading from Feisty --> Mint 3.0

I think I remember seeing a tutorial on how to upgrade from Ubuntu to Linux Mint. Well, how would I do this running Feisty? I want to upgrade to the newest Linux Mint.

Thanks,

What? If I think I understood you correctly, then you are saying you did it in the terminal w/ the xserver running, you are supposed to close it, then run sudo envy. Basically, this is what I did: Pressed CTRL + ALT + F1, logged in, ran sudo init 3, ran sudo envy, then typed reboot. But, yeah, what ...
