Re: Good size for a 4k monitor?

I spent weeks and weeks balancing the pros and cons of a 4K monitor, and in the end I chose to keep my old 27' 1920x1080 and add a 27' 2560x1440. Fully satisfied.

Re: Good size for a 4k monitor?

I have a 27' with WQHD resolution (2560x1440) and can assure you that this is the limit to read text in "normal" font size. I often display web pages at 120% to make them more readable. I would agree that 32' must be the bare minimum screen size if you want to use normal font size.

Re: update python from 2.7 to 3.5

Python3 (3.4.3) is already installed in LM17.3: I don't know what version is in LM18 but most probably python3 is there too !?

Re: What Windows software can you not do without?

Using Windows 7 under VirtualBox for one reason alone. Many years ago a U.K. based Genealogy program - Family Historian - appeared on the scene. I purchased it and found it so good that I've been using it ever since. It is now up to v6.2 and I wouldn't use any other program for my genealogy, even t...

1. Super Bar + Start Menu
Better use XFCE with its WhiskerMenu and DockBarX to mimick (and improve on) the Super Bar !

Re: [UNSOLVED] Archive Manager (File Roller) UI problem

Hi @phd21, Clem admitted in a recent newsletter (in the comments section) that the version used in Mint is faulty. I already installed a newer version (must be the 3.12.2 you mentioned), the bug is corrected but you get the new UI from Gnome with a combined titlebar/menu which doesn't not really int...

Re: Archive Manager (File Roller) UI problem + Screen Capt.

I thought it was a bug with Xfce but I also tried Mint Cinnamon and it seems that File Roller is also broken here :-\ Does nobody use this tool ? How is it possible that no one reported that problem yet !?

[UNSOLVED] Archive Manager (File Roller) UI problem

Hi, Archive Manager is almost unusable for me because the UI layout is messed up, does anyone have the same problem ? Here is a screenshot showing what I mean... It's practically impossible to select anything on that dialog ! Capture d’écran_2015-09-26_12-34-48.png Also, while trying to use the Scre...

Re: Desktop Environment Preferences

I'm also running KDE and Cinnamon editions of Mint. KDE is the best DE I think but I don't like how some applications don't integrate very well (Firefox and Opera for example). The Cinnamon version doesn't have that problem but customization is very limited and it still has some glitches, for exampl...
