Wallpaper of Frog on rainy leaf
In the past, I tried to contribute to the Linux Mint wallpaper series, but I did not have a camera capable of raw support. Anyway, here are some Raw files + png + jpgs. Linux Mint/users can use if they want. It was a photo of a frog in my front yard. Basically, I use LM on a daily basis on my laptop...

Re: Need Help! Upgrade won't boot- need files.
Thanks for the prompt response. It looks like the files are okay. I was able to read the partition from a Knoppix bootable usb and am in the process of transferring the files to USB now so that I can transfer them to my main desktop. Shouldn't take too long. Seems to be going smoothly enough so far....

Need Help! Upgrade won't boot- need files.
So, I was upgrading my Linux mint when the boot bricked and now I just get a black screen with the blinking cursor. I was upgrading to Lisa. I tried the recovery boot and it also hangs. Obviously, I need my files. Let's begin with I have a Ubuntu installed on a separate partition. Can I access the f...

Re: Will the power regression problem be resolved?
Okay.
Well I tried to upgrade the kernel to 2.39.2 with kernelcheck but it won't boot, so I can't try the fix. I'll just stick with the 2.32 version for now.

Will the power regression problem be resolved?
Now that the problem causing the power regression has been identified, will the power regression issue be addressed in the Mint Distro? Like the LTS version (Mint 9) or other?

I've been using LM9 on the netbook and have not had any issues with restarting/logging out.

Re: Jupiter
I have yet to disable those features so I do not know. What kind of power savings do you get? I feel that the heat kicking the fan in still occurs in even power saving mode. Are you using the SHE add-on? I have an Asus and downloaded the add-on, but do not notice much difference so far. BTW, the scr...

Re: Linux Mint 11 is randomly restarting / logging out [UPDA
I am using Jupiter to monitor temperature and provide some (minimal) power management. I have my netbook set to powersaving mode. The running temperature is usually between 56 degrees and 66 degrees. According to the sensor command, critical is not until 98. LM9 runs a bit hotter, but I have not had...

Re: Linux Mint 11 is randomly restarting / logging out [UPDA
I also thought the problem was Chrome/Chromium. However, I have uninstalled that program and today while surfing with Firefox, the reboot error occurred to me twice (ironically on my way to this forum to post about it). I did update to 2.39.1; however, I think the problem must be something other tha...

That did it. Thanks.
I just booted from the LM9 install and made the changes and now it is good. Strange. I think I installed LM9 after LM11, so it must have taken control of the grub... In any case, it is working now.

Re: Asus Eee PC 701SD and Mint 11 (Katya).
I set the default to the correct Kernel. The kernel choice does not appear in the grub boot loader though... http://i.imgur.com/uAUGw.png Now, with that default reboot and check kernel with: uname -a Press the "Shift" key to see Grub Menu. Well, it is still not a Grub Menu choice. I even ...

Re: Asus Eee PC 701SD and Mint 11 (Katya).
I tried that first and it did nothing for me. Downloaded all the files and installed them in the order prescribed. Still came up with 2.38.8 It has a problem on the final stage sometthing about UTF8 and the US. Not sure. I'm in the US. Anyway, that's why I tried kernelcheck. If I do a grub update it...

Re: Asus Eee PC 701SD and Mint 11 (Katya).
I downloaded kernelcheck and compiled a custom kernel and updated grub, but it still only shows the 2.38.8 version. Did I miss something? Likewise, it has failed to update the kernel when I try to load the debs...

Issues with LM11
I installed the latest version of Chromium under Linux Mint 11. Once in a while, Chromium crashes the system- it automatically logs me out of Mint and I have to log in. I removed Chromium and have not had the problem since then. I think there is a conflict with LM11 and Chromium. Has anyone else had...

Made a model of a netbook running Mint.
The model is here (in obj and blender formats). The file is a zip file. http://www.mediafire.com/?on4n738v0cpmav6 The backstory is that Asus did not send me a recovery CD after the pre-installed hard drive factory restore failed. I had several Linux distros, including a Mint partition, already insta...

Re: Touchpad functions not working in Mint [Solved]
You are luckier than me. When I boot a standard boot, I cannot use the keyboard or touchpad. If I plug in an external mouse, it will recognize it. (Still need to connect an external keyboard). Of course, that defeats the point of a netbook. LOL. If I could actually get passed the log in screen...

Re: Synaptic/ALPS touchpad not detected on Acer 532H?
Well for my 1005, I've been trying several distros on flash first and they seem to always end up with the same problem. It seems it will recognize mouse keyboard maybe once, and then it fails to on subsequent reboots. The ubuntu actually worked for like 2 or 3 times, then stopped working. On USB, I&...

Re: Microphone not working on my Asus 1005HAB
I'm not sure if this helps, but according to this article (which is more on Ubuntu): http://www.jfwhome.com/2009/08/06/perfect-ubuntu-jaunty-on-the-asus-eeepc-1005ha-and-1008ha/ "The sound works perfectly out of the box. However, the microphone input is set to the microphone jack, rather than t...

Re: Synaptic/ALPS touchpad not detected on Acer 532H?
I'm wondering if this is the same problem I am having on the Asus 1005PEB? I tried following these instructions, but it has not worked: http://blog.mfabrik.com/2009/10/11/setting-up-multi-touch-scrolling-for-ubuntu-9-10-karmic-koala-linux-on-asus-eee-1005ha-netbook/ The note here seems important (Ub...
