Looking at your hardware config, the only thing that stands out to me is that you are using the open-source Nouveau driver for the nvidia card. Try installing the proprietary driver for this card and see if the problem remains.

Try disabling hardware acceleration on Chrome's advanced settings. Usually that is the cause of Chrome freezes. It happened again, but always seems associated with a Chrome browser page becoming unresponsive and crashing, somehow tying up the system resources

Hi All! Was trying to improve performance of my Realtek 8188ee, and tried installing 3.12.1 backports. Did not like the result, and now have no wireless.
