Re: Mint 12 KDE
I just installed the RC (32bit) and the updates. When I start Software Manager it starts up and immediately shuts down. It happens to me as well. We still have synaptic to download packages and it works fine so good enough for me. One thing that differs in Mint KDE compared to Kubuntu is that Mint ...

Re: Mint 12 final on the mirror!!!
I think SoftPedia jumped the gun. They may have seen a file labled as the stable but that does not mean its the final stable file.
When the Mint blog says it's done, then it's done. I wouldn't go wasting my bandwidth over some confusion.
Be patient.

What is the password for the live-cd?
When users try the cd they'll have to log out and back in to try MATE and other desktops. I wanted to do this but I don't know the user or the password to enter.

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Sweet desk, simpleblue. Can we get details on themes and settings? I know it's probably a GNOME session but I'm still curious to know how you achieve it. It's Commodore OS, but before the forum goes crazy saying I'm promoting another desktop, it actually runs ontop of Mint 10. There are no add-ons ...

Where can I post my desktop pic for this month?
I've searched these forums and it could be anywhere. This is not the first time I've posted asking this. It would make sense to me to have the desktop screen shots located in the Artwork forum but they are not there. Sorry to post this, but I feel aggravated right now. I just wanna post my desktop p...

Re: Icons that could be tweaked in LM12
To put it bluntly, the Faenza application icons are nice, the non-Faenza ones either aren't or stand out too much from the square scheme. Some of the not so great icons you list already have official Faenza replacements, they just haven't been implemented in mint's adaptation (yet?) (e.g. UXTerm an...

Re: Linux Mint 12 Release Candidate
Well, Fedora may be an important distro, but they are far from ruling the Linux world. Just because they think they don't need fallback mode anymore doesn't mean users will agree with them. I watch Fedora a little bit, and just like Ubuntu, users have been leaving in droves due to Gnome 3. Well, Fe...

Icons that could be tweaked in LM12
I find Linux Mint to be one of the most polished distros available, but I have a little grumble with the icons. I'm running LM12 and I'd say about 95% of the icons looking amazingly polished. I'm talking about the icons from the Mint-X theme. There are some icons that I feel could using tweaking to ...

Re: gnome 3 in mint 11?bad idea
A nice comparison of memory and CPU utilization of various desktops: http://www.renewablepcs.com/about-linux/kde-gnome-or-xfce No surprise, KDE is the memory hog, Unity is both a memory and enormous CPU hog, and while GNOME 3.0 Shell is not using more memory than GNOME 2.x, it needs a lot more CPU....
