How to enable 3D acceleration?

I want to run some windows programs and my search has led me to install wine and playonlinux. Both installed well it seems. However, when I first opened Playonlinux, the opening message says my laptop doesn't have 3d acceleration enabled. How do I enable it?

Re: is there a way to rearrange extension placement?

Thanks richyrich for your reply. Although that link did not have a solution it did help me with where to start looking, so I found where I could make my own tweak. Not sure if it is the only way to go but it works for me. Here is what I did for any other insane OCD people out there like me who are ...

Can there be more options in Power Management Settings?

Is there a way to have more options in the Power Management Settings, particularly in the options under "Suspend when inactive for"? Right now I only see 5 minutes / 10 / 30 / 1 hour / Don't suspend. If I remember correctly, earlier versions had more options like when inactive for 2 hours ...

[Solved] Redundant functions upon plugging removable media

When I plug in my external hard drive or usb, two things happen:
1-a window automatically opens showing the removable media's contents
2-the bottom panel shows a notification with 2 options: show contents and eject

How can I disable one or the other since having both seems redundant?

Re: dvd movies won't play on Mint 11 64 version

Open VLC player, under Tool>Preferences>Input & Codecs change Default Optical Device to : /dev/sr0 That is the usual designation for most DVD players, not /dev/dvd. Hope this helps. Hi, thanks so much! This solved the problem I posted here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/posting.php?mode=edit&...

Re: Is start up really slow?

Don't concern yourself.. Does it really matter, unless it took minutes to boot, it is not so noticeable, and basically only gives b ragging rights The fastest booting OS I have seen is either straight up DOS or in the GUI mode Beos --which basically was ready within 10-15 seconds http://en.wikipedi...

Is start up really slow?

I'm surprised LM 11 takes around 45 secs to start up on this machine, the same time windows7 was taking when I hadn't yet switched to LM. Is it really like that or there's something I have to adjust?

Known issues Gnome theme failing to load Because of a race condition between the GDM and session calls to gnome-settings-daemon, Gnome can load without a theme. Re: How to play dvd in LinuxMint 11?

Hi, you need to install the codecs (they do not come installed by default on Linux Mint 11 CD version). If all is correct, you have a link to do so at the bottom of the welcome screen you get after each login. If you have chosen not to see the welcome screen anymore, go to the menu and search for a...
