Re: Unreadable tooltips in Digikam

The advice to install the systemsettings package has solved my own problem with Digikam and Tellico. I was getting the following message "The name org.kde.klaucher was not provided by any .services files." This is in Mint 17 (Mate) 64 bits.

Thanks!

(Solved) Tap to click on touchpad no longer works (Asus, xf

Hi all, I've just had the big upgrade (5 - 1500 packages approx.) on my lmde xfce system (on an ASUS a52f laptop) and tapping to click on the touchpad no longer works. Two-finger scrolling and moving the cursor around do still work fine. I've tried using gpointing-device-settings (with sudo) but I g...

Re: HOW TO: Emerald Install for 64 bit LMDE users

Hi all,

I'm using LMDE xfce (with Compiz) and this has worked for me, despite being initially intended for Mint 13 (see the latter part of the topic): http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=104232.

Re: Installing vmware player fails when updating kernel modu

Hi aptitude,

glad I could be of some help! :D I'm guessing that there is a patch for version 4.0.4, or that there will be one eventually. However, I didn't need to be at the absolute cutting edge of VMware Player, so 4.0.3 was fine.

Pierre.

Re: Dual Monitors in XFCE

Hi all, I've just started using arandr and it works very well (I'm using LMDE xfce - it's in the standard repositories). You can save monitor setups (e.g., one for the office where my second screen is above, one for school where it's on the right side, one for when I don't have a second monitor) and...

Re: Installing vmware player fails when updating kernel modu

This has worked for me (using LMDE xfce - up to date) First download the 4.0.3 VMware Player bundle (the current version is 4.0.4, but I don't know if the patch referred to below will work with it - it doesn't for version 4.0.2), then moving to the folder where you've saved the bundle, make the file...

Re: Opera Unite

I agree, it works fine. The only real caveat is that this personal webserver will let people (everybody, or people with a password that you supply to them) get content from you but the actual downloading speed for them will be limited by your own uploading speed (in Canada, this is quite a bit slowe...

Also, it doesn't display the number of hits, which is useful for me since I'm a translator. I often wish to see to what degree an expression is used. I now use Ixquick as it now displays said number of hits, among other advantages. I support Linux Mint through donations.

Headphone detection on Asus laptop [SOLVED]

Hi all when I plug in headphones in my new Asus laptop (Intel 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio), the on-board speakers are not muted. I've looked in the archives but haven't found a solution. I'm double-booting with LMDE 64-bit / Windows 7. The speakers get muted when I'm in Window...

Re: Trying to make Quasar work

Hi Aging Technogeek, thanks for your answer! Permissions seem to be fine (-rwxr-xr-x). Quasar uses the postgres database backend. Using System Monitor, I can see that it is running ok, so that doesn't appear to be the problem. I don't have AppArmor running, so that is not blocking Quasar. My setup f...
