Network manager

Am having issues when installing Mint 19 XFCE on a Dell Mini 9 netbook (32 bit). When booting the live USB session, everything just works out-of-the-box. (ethernet, wifi, bluetooth,....everything) All the usual icons are present in the system tray (bluetooth, network, volume, clock, etc.) After inst...

Mint 19 support life

With Ubuntu announcing extending support for 18.04 to 10 years, is it planned for Mint 19 to follow suit?

Re: LMDE 201108 RC (Gnome & Xfce) released!

Is there any chance that this update of LMDE is compatible with Remastersys? Would like to be able to "customize" once and install on multiple machines.

Re: custom remastering

Yes, Clonezilla will allow creating an image.....but not a redistributable livecd with the ability to simply install from there.

I just tried the most recent version of remastersys on my LMDE install and it failed to install. (two packages trying to overwrite the same files)

custom remastering

First off, let me say that I REALLY like LMDE.....it has become my distro of choice. However, I would like to suggest one item that would make it close to perfect (for me, anyhow): an easy way to create a custom remaster (ISO) that would allow me to incorporate the changes that I have found useful f...

Re: install xfce without dvd

A bit different issue....I successfully installed XFCE Debian to a USB thumb drive, and it boots successfully on a non-DVD machine (using PLOP boot manager).....I run the Mint Installer and it gets as far as trying to start gparted to set up the partitioning and then the installer simply quits....ba...

Skype and Audacity...broken?

OK, just for the record, I really like Mint and have been using it ever since I discovered Celena (Mint 3) and most recently Mint 7. However, Mint 9 and it's use of pulseaudio with no option to remove it has me looking for an alternative. Specifically, I cannot get Skype or Audacity to work with Min...

Re: How to force specific screen resolution?

Just a follow-on question: I can accept the fact that the live-cd may need to have some default resolutions set that are less-than-optimal.....however, the installer program already asks the user to specify keyboard layout....why couldn't an addition screen be added to the installer that would simpl...

Re: How to force specific screen resolution?

".config/monitors.xml" apparently does not get created in Mint 9 (based on Lucid, not Jaunty).

How to force specific screen resolution?

Greetings.....First off, let me say "Thanks!" for the very nice work on Mint 9. Now the issue....I have a 20" Soyo flat panel monitor that will support 1600x1200 res (native) but is not correctly detected by Mint 9. I have tried creating an Xorg.conf file and modifying the Modes optio...

Re: Skype does not work with Mint 9/Pulseaudio

Perhaps, but the combination still does not work.....which is the showstopper involved.

I do, however, stand corrected.....Skype (at least the current beta version) does not seem to work with Mint 7 either.

So, for the moment, WinXP will have to be used when Skype is called for.

Skype does not work with Mint 9/Pulseaudio

OK, it MAY work for some folks, but on my HP2133 netbook, it does not. THIS IS A SHOWSTOPPER in my book. Mint 7 worked absolutely flawlessly on this machine...and after seeing the performance improvement of Mint 9 on a couple desktop machines, I was REALLY hoping for the best on the netbook. Unfortu...

Re: Screenshots as of 9/27

Looks very nice....can you give us any idea as to when the beta will be available for download? "Real soon" or "any day now" doesn't tell us much.....
