Re: Why are my applications not the latest possible version?

The answer is simple: Keeping all apps updated takes a lot of effort and time. True that if an update comes out, that implies that there worthwhile improvements to be had, but since the OS is an entire ecosystem, that update can also brings new bugs. The new bugs will require new updates, and cicle ...

Re: "mint 11 The panel encountered a problem while loading"

Having the same problem here. It's the first time that Mint (Gnome) does not run flawlessly for me. I bet it's all derived from Ubuntu 11.04 since they really pissed on Gnome (i tried it, so i know). I had to abandon Ubuntu 11.04 and now it seems i'll have to leave Mint also. Maybe i'll check Kubunt...

Re: Mint 11 KDE development

My 2Cents in here and my ignorance on OS development also. It seems to me that the LTS releases are the best ones followed by regressions after them. In my opinion if some thing works we shouldn't try to fix it. If LM based in Kubuntu 11.04 has regressions from the previous releases why bother to r...

Re: The Official UNOFFICIAL KMint 11 Kataya Request Thread

So, it's still very possible to get Songbird. It just doesn't have official support. Non Linux friendly software, not worthy to be in a Linux distro, better projects out there which are 100% Linux only and worthy of support. This is not one of them. On upgrading KDE: - The 'normal' release already ...

Re: The Official UNOFFICIAL KMint 11 Kataya Request Thread

Ah! Just checked it out. Songbird official linux support was dropped. BUT the source code is still available. So, it's still very possible to get Songbird. It just doesn't have official support. On upgrading KDE: - The 'normal' release already has bugs. - Upgrading from RC is not a choice... Don't r...

Re: The Official UNOFFICIAL KMint 11 Kataya Request Thread

I also know Lancelot was on KDE 10 RC. But you don't really expect me to use an RC... do you? Why not... the RC when update is the same as the final... I used the RC to do all installs and then updated from there. Yes, Songbird is a Linux program. It's not a QT program, but definitely a GTK Linux p...

Re: The Official UNOFFICIAL KMint 11 Kataya Request Thread

@9140 I know KDE already is up to date by default with every new release! But it's always a good thing. Just mentioning it... I also know Lancelot was on KDE 10 RC. Re: The Official UNOFFICIAL KMint 11 Kataya Request Thread

Just my two bucks bout how i think KDE 11 should be like: - Updated KDE :D - Lancelot Menu - Songbird (just discovered this. it's sooo great!) - No small bugs: > Compressed Archives don't open directly from Firefox > Opening Compressed Archives Opens a Second Folder with the name of the Archive... >...

What i expect from Mint KDE 11

Hi guys! Just my two bucks bout how i think KDE 11 should be like: - Updated KDE :D - Lancelot Menu - Songbird (as a music player should be) - No small bugs: > Compressed Archives don't open directly from Firefox > Opening Compressed Archives Opens a Second Folder with the name of the Archive... > C...

Re: KDE 10 Issues

I only had the .rar opening in both Ark and Dolphin when I opened it via the DL manager in Firefox. Opening one from the Chromium DL manager and from Dolphin got it just in Ark. Those are definitely some weird issues but the kind of small, nagging stuff you expect from an RC release. I suspect the ...

Re: KDE 10 Issues

Both things work fine for me. I normally use Chromium, but I downloaded a .rar file using Firefox in Mint 10 KDE and it opened when I double-clicked on it. (though, it opened in both Ark and Dolphin :?: ) I also dragged and dropped something from the .rar into my Documents folder. Are you running 3...

Re: KDE 10 Issues

...Please help as this is keeping me away form KDE. I like it, but i start getting anoyed from these bugs and end up ditching it... If there is something not optimized yet in Mint 10 KDE, IMHO no need run away from KDE at all, just keep on the Mint 9 KDE , it's fine and LTS... I have that is...

KDE 10 Issues

I don't know if anyone else has this issue, but i donwloaded the new Mint KDE 10 and i have this issue: - When i download a rar file, i can't open it directly from the Firefox Downloads Manager, like in Gnome. - Also, after i open it, i can't drag files directly into folder views... I don't understa...

[SOLVED] Installing Mint 10 'over' Ubuntu = MintBuntu...

Hi! I just installed the new Mint 10 over Ubuntu 10.10 and the result wasn't what i expected... What i do, is to keep /home in a different partition so i can't jump from one Distro to another easily and not having to save all the data. Mint installed correctly and kept all the settings correctly, bu...

I do not use KDE. I am very happy with XFCE and Gnome. But I do wish you would change the name of this post. I have read this in its entirety and was almost converted to KDE. But i had a hard time getting this OS where i wanted it and in the process fell in love. None-the-less please rename this po...

Re: Mint KDE Sucks

How come there are so many hardware compatibility issues with KDE Mint, and NONE with Gnome? Did you download the .iso again and burn the image at a slower speed? If so, I'd have to say your computer just doesn't like Mint KDE for whatever reason, but that doesn't mean Mint KDE sucks, so you'd be b...
