Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2024

It was a very productive week for my Linux boxes! Both my Dell and HP towers got their (500G & 250G respectively) HDD drives replaced with a Samsung 1TB 870 EVO SSD at 560M/s read and write speed. I bought a pair of SATA to USB transfer cables and the old HDDs are now mounted as external slaves ...

Re: Why wont this terminal command work in conky?

how are you running your conky? if you run it manually in a terminal do you get any info about why that command doesn't seem to be working? conky -c /path/to/config This conky cannot be run from the terminal for some reason, the terminal window flashes onscreen for a split second then closes itself...

Why wont this terminal command work in conky?

Hello everyone, I am using the following command to get a readout of my motherboards UEFI: inxi -Mxx | awk '/UEFI:/ {uefi=$NF; getline; print uefi, $1, $2, $3, $4}' It works perfectly in terminal, and I created a polkit for inxi so conky could launch it as root: org.logan.inxi.policy <?xml version=&...

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2024

From what I have seen and read, it appears that Cinnamon is far more popular than Mate due to its robust costomization options. If you have made it past the 2GB RAM threshold that necessitates Xfce, I would advise trying Cinnamon. I have had tremendous fun working with it. It had 4GB which was fine...

Re: Audacious 4.4 is out!

Wow. I remember packaging projectm 3.x back in Ubuntu 20.04. 4 years and 2 LTS releases later, Ubuntu still hasn't copied over projectm 3.x If you want to try the "standalone" version of projectm 3, I threw Jammy/M21 and Noble/M22 versions in an old PPA (didn't feel like making a new one)...

Re: Can anyone isolate the code for one of these gauges please? [SOLVED]

Hey Zcot, Can you show me what part of the code determines the ranges of med, warn, and alarm? I note that med, the yellow range is really small and warn the orange range is large I would like to edit this to add about 15-20% to yellow/med and subtract the same from orange/warn Can you do this edit ...

Re: Most of my system doesn't recognize my cpu cores

there are a few different commands you could run to verify that your system does correctly identify your cpu. it should show up in your System Reports System info in addition to: lscpu sudo lshw -c processor System Monitor from the menu should also show each cpu's usage under the Resources tab. i c...

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2024

All i did was to load the live of mint 22 MATE on a virtualbox and changed the theme and panel layout slightly. luna-brisk.jpg chicago-brisk.jpg aero-brisk.jpg Did notice that its not 100% compatible to ubuntu mate 22.04. There are some changes . These combined GUI boxes look so fun! Which version ...

Re: external USB hard drive suddenly unmountable. please help.[SOLVED]

Well!! So I plugged it into the windows machine to copy over data and the windows machine immediately said "this drive is bad, scan and repair" I let windows scan it which took a little over 5 mins, then repair it which took under 2 minutes. Then I plugged it into the Linux box and it auto...

Re: external USB hard drive suddenly unmountable. please help.

This drive is not behaving like that, and Koentje just confirmed that formatting it ext4 is the way to go to guarantee dependable mounting on the linux box. I am ...

Does this give any indication of how to troubleshoot? i've not used windows or a drive formatted as ntfs for some time so i don't know for sure. logansfury@OptiPlex-5040:~$ sudo mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt $MFTMirr does not match $MFT (record 3). Re: Can anyone isolate the code for one of these gauges please? [SOLVED]

I can clean up that code quite a bit. Those edits were just using copy/paste to represent the idea. I kinda liked seeing the whole thing go uncontrollably blaring red all of a sudden! -but wondering if the whole active bar should be represented by the current color. It looks good and clean, and cle...

have you tried mounting the partition manually to see if that works or gives you more info? sudo mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt Hello, Thank you for joining the thread. Eh, i have no experience on that whatsoever, but Mega can be a trusty site, and safe too, if we're on the same page. Unless it's not mega.io . You still should try getting the files from wherever else. Sure, it'll take a while, but that can tell you if the problem is the files or the VM. :D Hello K...

I think the colors do fade into each other when you set them to 0.5 instead of 1.0.
I haven't, I am a bit groggy today from a crappy night trying to sleep. I may crash for a bit then experiment with the gauges more when I am more alert.
