Re: Grub 2 script

How about this one? http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=106727 That program is a masterpiece. Sadly it doesn't quite do what I want but it's soooooooo useful! Thankyou so much for introducing me to that! I think I've cracked it anyway! At least for the purpose I need it for. I just man...

Re: Grub 2 script

How about this one? http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=106727 WOW! Thankyou! It's not clear to me if that actually boots the iso, or if it mounts it and does some jiggery pokery either, but that looks so easy I have to try it, and it's DEFINITELY good to know it is there! BIG THANKYOU...

Re: Grub 2 script

Nope had a better look at that other code and it seems to just mount the images and start the linux kernals. Another blind Alley. The original code I linked to, does what I want and actually boots the iso image but it's not clear to me where the code snippet is supposed to go. I very much get the im...

Re: Grub 2 script

It may be better for you if you knew that grub2 is NOT a daemon. What are you looking for, or to do exactly? Trying to boot .ISOs from grub? http://www.instantfundas.com/2007/08/install-any-linux-distro-directly-from.html Sadly this link doesn't deal with booting iso's at all but just extracting li...

Re: Grub 2 script

Yeah, I was hoping to boot an iso image from my hard disk and this seemed to suggest I could just place my iso in the image folder and update grub2 to boot them (via syslinux?) which would have been wonderful! Theres nothing to suggest where the snippet of code should go however. I thought the grub....

Grub 2 script

Found this really useful script which connects to the grub 2 daemon. HOWEVER, I'm not sure where it's supposed to go! http://blog.snow-crash.org/2010/11/cool-things-with-grub2-and-syslinux---booting-floppy-and-iso-images.html Is there anyone out there who might have an idea as I'm finding that all o...

Re: Update to Grub 2-->Will it include the Windows option?

Hi,everyone. Just this morning I downloaded via the Update Manager, the new Grub version. After restarting the system,I got a prompt telling me to give a command if everything works fine with the new Grub: When you have verified GRUB 2 works, you can use this command to complete the upgrade: upgrade...

Re: good info installing grub2 and recognizing windows partition

Thanks for this! Without this help I would have never worked out how to sort out putting XP onto the menus. It's funny because I was only just thinking how this whole menu.lst thing was just too easy and that we really need to make things much more complicated so that people can feel that sense of a...

Re: Install cannot see hard disk!

lanternflower, You say that you can't see the drive in the installer. I am assuming this is a single internal drive. Since you have already made and formatted partitions in Gparted, did you use the manual partitioning mode in the installer? If so you should have seen your pre-made partitions. If no...

Install cannot see hard disk!

I'm trying to install Mint version 8. However the install program cannot see the hard disk. Whats really frustrating is the live cd can and I have been able to partition and format the drive with gparted but the install screen is just blank when it comes to the hard disk bit. Really, really crazy. T...
