Re: Please bring back the Ubuntu "Create Launcher" Capability
To add to the panel or desktop you just need to drag and drop it from mintMenu. I don't see how this is inferior to the way Ubuntu does it. From Ubuntu menu you can also add drawers/menus of groups to panel, as I told earlier. PS: I don't quite understand this forum: If I ask some questions (as two...

Re: Please bring back the Ubuntu "Create Launcher" Capability
OP stands for "Original Poster", in other words the person who started this thread. This is a fairly common abbreviation used in very many forums across the internet. And he was specifically looking for a way to right click on an object and then select to create a launcher from the object...

Re: Please bring back the Ubuntu "Create Launcher" Capability
Without adding an extra applet, you can use keyboard combination ALT+F1 to use Ubuntu menu. ? That doesn't really help with the problem the OP has... ??? How much is your answer helping? And who is this mysterious "the OP" and what is his/hers problem then? I only tried to help with probl...

Re: How to switch keyboard layout via key shortcut?
You can define keyboard switching key in Control Center > Keyboard > Layout Options > Group Shift/Lock behavior. You can choose multiple keys or combinations from a list, I use left Win-key.
PS. This in standard Mint 4.0, I don't know about older / or KDE versions.

Re: Firefox widgets - makes your Firefox look really good!
Firefox 3.0 trunk (nightly test version) is looking really good with native Linux icons and widgets.
But there is a very irritating bug in page rendering which should be corrected. So if you are capable to test and vote for that bug here is the address: #406577

Re: High RAM & CPU usage
Good question about mintUpdate. I asked that earlier without answer: Salai: Why is mintUpdate using so much memory? I had that time started to test Firefox beta1 and it was eating all memory and mintUpdate was also going up to something as high as 60 - 70 Mbytes if there was no uppdates available . ...

Re: installing rainlandar calendar
I made an empty file and renamed it without opening and ranlendar accepted that.
Rainlendar seems to be not compatible with Mint 4.0, it crashes every time with lots of errors.
I now installed again Mint 3.1 (for other reasons) and there it seems to work.

Re: Azureus
Why install obsolete non-functional (2.5.0.0) Azureus from mintInstall and then manually copy over it some other obsolete version (which cannot even update itself), when one can get new 3.0.3.4 Azureus from http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ ?

Re: Mplayer plugin or Totem plugin?
How do I change from Firefox mplayer plugin to totem plugin (Mint Daryna). Mplayer used to work earlier with Celena but not anymore (in Finnish Broadcasting Company news http://areena.yle.fi//). When I tested with Live Gutsy, which uses totem, it loaded codecs and worked without problem. MPlayer plu...

Re: Having trouble with mintUpdate in Daryna
Why is mintUpdate using so much memory?
When I start Daryna 4.0 mintUpdate uses 24 - 52 MB memory (as seen in System Monitor) so long as I start it manually or there are some updates. After that I dont see mintUpdate at all in System Monitor.

Bcm43xx-fwcutter cannot load firmware file? You can load it from: http://xeve.de/down/wl_apsta.o and then execute (if file is saved on desktop): sudo bcm43xx-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware ~/Desktop/wl_apsta.o It is an old bug, but should be fixed in Gutsy: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcm43...
