Wesnoth 1.14 ?

Hi there, Are there any plans to make Wesnoth 1.14 available? The repo still shows 1.10 (as published some years ago). I managed to install 1.12 when it came out, but I have trouble with 1.14 which was released earlier this year. The only solution may be to run it on Steam, but I'd rather have a gen...

Re: Odd problem with Firefox

Ah, I forgot about the "about:config". Many thanks.

There are a lot of options there and I will have to find out what they are doing.

For now, I disabled "gestures.enable_single_finger_input", which seems to describe the problem vaguely. Let's see if this does the trick.

Odd problem with Firefox

I seem to have an odd, quite annoying problem with Firefox: If I switch beween tabs and move my mouse too quickly, the tab gets attached to the mouse pointer, as if I still had the mouse button pressed. The only way to release it is to press the Esc key. It then either ends up as a new Firefox windo...

Re: 32 bit vs 64 bit [SOLVED]

Just found this thread and it made interesting reading. One question that has not been addressed: With regartds to software titles available in the repos (e. g. in Software Manager) right now, can anyone tell me which titles are ONLY available in 64bit? I am still rinning 32bit and my system (LMDE) ...

Ah, good tip. I'll try that. Will not be able to do it right now but will definitely report back. :-)

Many thanks!

Re: Can LMDE kill a laptop?

The laptops are given to me because they are considered to old for Windows. They usually work fine with LMDE, but last for different lengths of time.

Perhaps the temperature could be a clue, although they do not feel unusually hot or set their fans to a higher speed.

Thanks anyway...

Can LMDE kill a laptop?

I know this question sounds rather odd, but let me explain: I am running LMDE on an old laptop in my office. I usually get a 10 year old machine for free or very cheap and as long as it can hold 2GB of RAM, it is usually fine. However, the odd thing is that over the past 2 years, I had no less than ...

Can this be added as an update so that LMDE2 will have it as standard?

Re: Broken Graphics Drivers - Fix it and get a donation!

There have been several threads about this issue. I did not bookmark them all, but here are two examples: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=239&t=194748&p=1038488&hilit=intel+driver#p1038488 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=239&t=196272 To summarise: - It happens with new LMDE2 ...

Broken Graphics Drivers - Fix it and get a donation!

Hi, In LMDE1 the graphics worked fine, but in the transition to LMDE2, something got broken and I (as well as many other users) now see random black areas on our screens. I would rate this as a highly critical issue but none of the updates over the past 3 months has addressed it. There were some tec...

Re: [NOT SOLVED]black stripes LMDE2 INTEL 915GM/GMS/910GML

I have a similar (the same?) problem here in that parts of my display randomly turn black and some screen elements (such as the reload symbol in the Firefox URL bar) disappear. inxi gives me the following output: Graphics: Card: Intel 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device bus-ID: 00:02.0 Display Se...

Re: Looking for a file manager that can do "dumb" copying

I tried rsync before and it lead to I/O errors as well. Just finished copying 111GB. Double Commander did it, but at a stretch: It took 24 hours (two USB 2.0 devices) and even after it had finished, the CPU was still running at 100%, but System Manager could not tell me which process was using this,...

Re: Looking for a file manager that can do "dumb" copying

Many thanks.

Not all the commanders listed are in the repo, but Double Commander seems to do alright aat the moment (fingers crossed).

Perhaps I should look at the dd command as well, but it sounds a bit dangerous.

Thanks again for your replies.

Looking for a file manager that can do "dumb" copying

Hi, I know my question is not specific to LMD2, but since I use this edition, I'll place it here: If I try to copy large volumes of files, Linux often runs into "input/output" errors. Someone explained to me that this is due to the way the copying works, caches being overfilled and all that. When I ...

Caja reports drive as read-only

Hi, I know that Linux might switch a drive to read-only if it is removed and then re-connected unexpectedly. This is to protect the drive contents. However, I have now encountered an odd problem with Caja. It reports a drive as read-only and refuses to make it writable again. The strange thing is: A...

Re: File copying/moving error

I was about to write about the same problem. To me, it seems to relate to certain file sizes. Let me explain: I have 3 PCs all running LMDE. They are between 1GHz and 2GHz speed and between 1GB and 4GB RAM. They all have USB 2.0, but not 3.0 I also have several removable USB HDs between 250GB and 32...
