The problem was during installation ethernet was disconnected. Hence Mint was looking for old version of Broadcom package in Ubuntu repos and was failing. After updation of MINT, new version of Broadcom driver was compatibile hence got installed without error. Lesson if Enternet was not connected du...

I was trying to update using Wired Ethernet only. That's when it failed with error. Wireless was not detected from start?

Just boot using your livecd.
1. Run Gparted from Menu.
2. In Gparted highlight the partition sda3
3. From gparted menu select partition --> Manage Flags and select the boot radio button
4. Now from menu select apply
Reboot from harddisk!!!

Thanks Vincent. As Linux mint 13 is LTS, it is a better candidate for Senior citizens PC's as they don't have to reinstall it for 5 years. These computers are around 5 years old currently running Windows XP. A point release helps a lot. Hope Linuxmint team can consider this as favour for speading us...

There are more than 400 MB woth of updates for Linuxmint 13. Is there any point release of Linuxmint 13 so that we can minimize updates? It's very difficult in this part of the world where average speed of internet is 512 kbps !!!
