Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro
Are we still be able to install KDE if we choose? I use many KDE programs like K3B.

Re: LM 17.3 and Firefox
To be honest, I been having so much trouble lately with Firefox, I just uninstalled it. For browsing, I use Chromium and Pale Moon. You can get a no fuss Linux installer for Pale Moon from this site: http://linux.palemoon.org/ I have noticed the latest version of Firefox has been buggy and has becom...

Re: Halo 2 PC on Linux Mint?
I have recently installed Wine-Staging 1.9 using the Pipelight PPA and am going to try an install of Halo 1. I have noticed that 1.9 works better with a few programs that run poorly with the Wine version that can be installed with LM 17.3. To install the Pipelight PPA, do the following in the termin...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE
Here is a Linux Mint user who always start getting anxious for the new edition. I use KDE on my desktop, and XFCE or LXDE (depending on my mood) on my netbook. I find that Kubuntu is so crappy, but Linux Mint KDE is so elegant and easy to use. I think the guys who are working on Kubuntu should reall...

I usually use Krusader, because I prefer a two-pane style file managers. Just makes it easy move things around.

Re: Mint 10 fails to boot ( live cd /dvd/usb )
I always use DVD-R/W. I find for all the supposed 'improvements' of DVD+R/W, they are by far the most iffy. I have produced more coasters when using +R/W, and I find most people I make a discs for find -R/W are more reliable. Although now for my own personal use, I always put my Linux distros on boo...

Re: Overclocked cpu and Linux Mint KDE
It was just a precaution. Less obstruction mean better airflow. Simple. In fact, I find my computer does not run hot, even with the side panel on. Taking off the side panel is just help the airflow. Besides I am on limited budget and I have to make due with what I have. But what I have works very we...

Re: Linux Mint 9 LXDE on a ASUS EeePC Surf 2G (701)
So far, it is working great. One thing I changed was I took the swap partition off the flash drive and put it onto the internal SSD, just to speed things up. And might be getting a 16g flash sometime this week or or the next. I am down to only 2g open on the 8g flash. From what I have experienced, 1...

Re: Overclocked cpu and Linux Mint KDE
Thanks for the advice. I do know the dangers and have, through trial-and-error, have found out what the highest I can go without causing stability problems. And I have been using the cpu overclocked for sometime now. Plus in order to keep it running cool, I have removed the panel side. I also regula...

Re: Overclocked cpu and Linux Mint KDE
I do not have the computer running in ondemand. The computer is supposed to running in performance all the time, but for it performance is sill 2.4 Ghz, not the overclocked 2.8. Does Linux Mint set an upper and lower limit that the cpu can run at, and if so can I readjust it. Please note, I am runni...

Re: Best Linux Mint 9 for Asus EEE 1000 HE
I installed the LXDE edition on to a 8g flash drive. I have had no trouble running it on my ASUS EeePC Surf 2g. It supported all the hardware right out of the box. Although I am KDE user on my desktop, I think KDE might use too much resources. I am perfectly happy to trade off the fancy crap for som...

Linux Mint 9 LXDE on a ASUS EeePC Surf 2G (701)
Yesterday I decided to try an install of Linux Mint 9 LXDE on my ASUS EeePC Surf 2G (701). This is the one that has the internal SSD soldered to the board. Believing that flash drives are cheaper to replace that SSD, I did the install to a Duracell 8g USB Flash drive. First of all, from what I can t...

Overclocked cpu and Linux Mint KDE
I have a single-core cpu that was rated a 2.4 GHz, but I have overclocked it to 2.7 GHz. Windows 7 shows it at the new speed, but whenever I go into Linux Mint 9 KDE, it still says the cpu is only 2.4. How do I get Linux Mint to run at the new speed. I am still experimenting with the overclocking to...

Success. If you like using Amarok 1.4 more than Amarok 2, you can have Pana installed and also still checkout Amarok 2 as they make changes to it.

Re: Compiling and running Pana
I had to add this in order to software sources get all dependencies: deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian lenny main Now trying to compile Pana. Here's hopin. This proves what a mish-mash Ubuntu is. They take stable, testing and unstable and put it together. No wonder Ubuntu is can be slow and buggy.

Re: Compiling and running Pana
I know that. I had no problem with those instruction in Linux Mint KDE, but not all of the required packages are available. Try following the instruction on the site you mentioned in LMDE and see what happens.

I like to know if anyone has any success getting the Pana Audio Player compiled and running in LMDE?
Just curious.
