Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

I have to agree, mmesantos has by far one of the best looking desktops in this thread.

It's got that sexy elegant side, yet professional feeling to it, and neatly organized.

Re: Packages You Use/Don't Use

Some of the packages I remove on the spot from a fresh install; CUPS and Samba (I don't have a printer) Bluetooth support (Bluetooth stuff is too expensive for me to even think about) Screensaver (Screens...

What applications are you needing access to? I'd also like to point out that not every Windows application wor...

How do you promote Mint?

How do you, as a Mint user, promote the OS you use?

I have links in my signature (and some forums I use the Linux Mint User userbar), and also link to the main LM site and LM Blog on my blog and even blogged about Linux Mint. :)

There should be one in Canada, which is the one I use since it's the closest and pings the fastest.

Re: I AM A NEW MINTIE

I have been an Ubuntu user for 2 years now. I love it and I will NEVER go back to WINDOWS  . I was looking at Ubuntu videos on you tube 2 weeks ago and I saw that Linux Mint was here. I have NEVER heard of it at all. I downloaded the ISO and ran it from the cd and fell in love. My graphics a...

Re: New to Mint, mixed feelings

just throwing this out there, but... it sounds like you might be on a laptop, and have accidentally/unknowingly toggled the Num Lock key. the standard toggle on most laptops is Fn-F4 (hold down the Fn key, and then press the F4 key). I'd have to agree with this, you appear to be on a laptop ...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Ok so this is the first time I have ever really customized an OS like this, so this is basically a work in progress. Currently using: Default shiki-wise theme (going to edit it later on to my liking) Compiz / Compiz Fusion on highest Animation and Effects AWN Screenlets (Sidebar in use) Standard GNO...

Open sourced software really doesn't compete with each other, but actually helps each other grow together, unlike companies like Microsoft and Apple who try to monopoly one another.
