Re: Failed Mint 19 install
PS. I did the timeshift and the backup before the upgrade but I'm not sure how to access them since I can't login.

[Solved] Failed Mint 19 install
I was running Mint 18 and upgraded to Mint 18.3 with no problems. Then I tried the Mint 19 upgrade and it got stuck somewhere in the middle. When I rebooted, I get the Mint 19 login screen and it lets me login but then it jumps right back to the login screen. Suggestions?

Re: Linux Mint 18, no networking
Setting the MTU to 8194 didn't work.
And holding the Shift and E keys didn't get me to the boot menu. But holding down the Shift key while it booted enabled the networking again.

Re: Linux Mint 18, no networking
The shift key doesn't give me the boot menu so how do I tell it to use a previous kernel?
And I was able to upgrade to the latest kernel and I still have the problem.

Re: cant' turn on wired connection ... plug in ethernet cord nothing happens
Try holding down the shift key while you boot. For some reason, my networking now only works if I hold down the shift key while booting.

Linux Mint 18, no networking
Very weird problem. I upgraded to Mint 18 and lost my networking. While trying to research fixes, I found a post that suggested holding down the shift key while booting to get to the grub menu so I tried it. I never got to the menu but when my system booted, my wired networking was working. I instal...

[Solved] Dual Boot: Win7 & Mint 17.3 and now 17.3 is broken
I have a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop that started with Windows 7 and I installed Mint 17.3 to make it dual-boot. Then I tried to upgrade the 17.3 to 18 via the packages and broke it (failed upgrade and now it boots to 17.3 but there's no networking at all). If I want to wipe the 17.3 and install 18 a...

Upgrade from 17.3 to 18 didn't complete
I tried to upgrade my dual-boot laptop from 17.3 to 18 and it ran into problems. I have some ideas on how to proceed but while both eth0 and wlan0 seem to be functional, I can't pull an IP address. And any USB stick I insert gives me a "Not Authorized to Mount" error. Any suggestions?

Re: Mint 17 won't boot
Thanks very much for trying to help. Since I needed to get back online quickly, I went ahead and reinstalled Mint. My /home was on a second hard drive so after editing my fstab file, I was back at my normal desktop. I guess I should add [Solved] to the post title to show that my problem is fixed eve...

Re: Mint 17 won't boot
http://paste2.org/kkCPNZ44 The install and boot repair seemed to go okay. I rebooted with the usb stick still connected, chose "boot from local disk" and it hung after showing maybe 20-30 lines of text. So I shut down using the Magic SysRq key combo, pulled the usb stick and started it bac...

[Solved] Mint 17 won't boot
I set up this system months and months ago and haven't had any problems with it until today. When I went to shut it down on Friday, it seemed to hang at a blank screen with the mouse pointer. I left it for a while and then held the power button down to turn the computer off. So I go to boot today an...

Connected but "No Network Connection" icon showing
It's a small thing but my boss borrowed my Win7/Mint 17 dual-boot laptop to test some networking software and now my network settings are wonky. I seem to be connected via ethernet and wireless but the "No Network Connection" icon is showing at the bottom right of my screen. Any suggestion...

Video/Audio icons & "Paste Into Folder"
Not sure if this is the right forum for these minor Mint 17 questions but they've been bugging me for a while so I thought I would ask. For moving files from one folder to another, sometimes I can "cut" and then "paste into folder". Other times, the "paste into folder" ...

Re: Mint 14 can't login
Thanks everybody for your suggestions. I wasn't able to get the left shift to work (probably due to my kvm setup) so I kept looking and I eventually booted off a Knoppix Live CD, found my way to the grub.cfg file and used the thread linked above to modify my boot parameter and I'm now able to boot a...

Re: Mint 14 can't login
Trying again. I had some problems once I installed Mint 14 Mate to a newly built box so I'm trying to reinstall booting off a usb drive. I get the Mint menu, select Linux Mint and then get a login screen that says "user Mint will log in in 10 seconds". So I wait and it loops me back to the...

Re: Mint 14 can't login
I have a workbench where I build the computers and once they're done, I move them to where I want them to be for day to day use. In this case, on top of my desk.
