Re: Questions about Defragging or Antivirus? Look here first!

This is one of the best threads I've seen on linux security issues - really good links. I'm very new to mint and am loving it. The only thing I'm uneasy about is the warnings that everything I try to download via synaptic is potentially a threat. I don't know if this is the same risk as with other d...

How do I make applications remember "their" monitor?

I'm running two monitors and I haven't discovered how to make the desktop (gnome) remember which monitor to use for which app (e.g. I want firefox to always open on the right hand monitor).

How do I do this?

Re: Emulating

VirtualBox is great. I'm new to Mint myself but have had photoshop cs3 running in vbox with no significant performance hit.

Re: Dual Monitors (30" landscape and 20" pivot)

Have you tried using the nvidia-settings program to configure your monitors?

Bug in compiz or just don't know what I'm doing?

I think this is a bug but I'm new to mint so could be me. Using gnome with Helena 64 bit. When I try to set 1 row, 2 columns of workspaces, I get 4 columns. I can't get less than 4 columns. When I set 2 rows and 1 column (which is how I'd prefer to lay workspaces out), I can't switch workspaces - cl...

Another workspace question...

I followed the instructions above to add a workspace switcher to the panel. It works great for side-by-side workspaces (i.e. multiple columns) but not for multiple rows. Am I doing something wrong?

Not a big issue. I'm just used to having multiple desktops stacked like rows.

Re: Problem with dual boot mint/pclos

Don't know if you're still struggling with this. If it's any help, I did it the other way around. I installed Mint on a separate hard drive (sdc, first partition) and put grub2 in the boot record of that partition. I then edited my grub menu for pclos (/boot/grub/menu.lst) by adding the following on...

<SOLVED> How to add application to launcher menu

I've downloaded Rawtherapee and can execute it from the file browser. I'd like to have an entry for it in the application launcher. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

Re: Problem with dual boot mint/pclos

I'm very interested in how this turns out. I really want to try Mint (esp. 64 bit). I'm currently running PCLinuxOS and actually love it, just no 64 bit version. I don't want to trash it. I assume that this bug: Installations with separate /boot partition If there is a previously existing Ubuntu (or...
