Re: Time Delay Startup Application

None of this worked for me (Mint 12). But I found this did work: In the GUI, enter the following in the 'command' field: bash -c "sleep x; program" where x is the delay in seconds and program is the command to run the program. For example, I wanted to delay Skype startup, as there is an issue with ...

Hello,

You can try my "fix" as mentioned in my previous post. The closest I ever came to fixing it was installing the Windows driver with ndiswrapper.

Thanks for posting the video travlemon It addresses a couple of issues that keep coming up - namely adding a network printer and getting rid of unwanted icons from the Applications view No problem! Linux Mint 12 mini review and some tips

Hello, With the recent release of Linux Mint 12, and as a mostly happy Gnome 3 user, I thought I'd make a video about it. Mint always seems to strive to do what the user's best interest would be, and I thought it'd be interesting to take a look at the controversial Gnome 3 desktop from the magnifice...

How To Install Windows wireless drivers in Linux

Hello, I'm sure it's an outdated type of tutorial to make, for ndiswrapper and the "Windows Network Drivers" utility, but I've been wanting to make one for a while, and noticed a significant difference in the workflow on Ubuntu 11.10 based systems. This tutorial shows 2 methods on installing a Windo...

Re: Extremely slow speeds on wireless connection, help!

Ok, I have fixed the problem SOMEWHAT, but I'm still going to leave this thread open. I don't believe I fixed it to the point that it's working perfectly, but I got a HUGE improvement! Here is what I did: After going to the intellinuxwireless.org site to get the latest and greatest driver for the In...

Extremely slow speeds on wireless connection, help!

Hello, I have posted about this issue in a couple different places, so far with no luck. Since I'm running Mint 12, I figured this should be the best place to post. The problem and its history (skip ahead for a short summary): I was excited for the release of Mint 12, as it seems like the perfect re...

Re: WARNING

I do not know why, BUT after I applied those changes on my Thinkpad x220, boot into the system did not work. I have reverted the file to its original state via a Live environment. So be cautious. Now that you mention this, I had the same problem. The fix worked the first time, but I had to reinstal...

Re: unable to update mint debian

first, a small correction, LMDE doesn't come with lxde (gnome and xfce are the default DE); now your problem: - after updating, with the terminal, with sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade run this sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad_0.10.22-...

Re: LMDE XFCE: touchpad does not emulate clicking

thanks for the reply. It took me 15min to google: "debian xfce touchpad" and read through every result and here is the solution sudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf copy-paste the following over the entries: Section "InputClass" Identifier "touchpad catchall" Driver "synaptics" M...

Re: Unmet dependencies preventing package installation

I would also like to mention that after some tinkering, I figured out that adding the WINE PPA has caused this. With a VirtualBox copy of the OS, I was able to select any of the packages without a problem. Once I added the WINE PPA and reloaded the package list in Synaptic, I started receiving that ...

Unmet dependencies preventing package installation

Hello, I recently installed Mint 10 KDE, as Mint 11 isn't available yet with KDE. I have applied a patch to Wine, and need to recompile now. To do that, I need to install a slew of package dependencies. When trying to install a lot of packages, I get an error about unmet dependencies. Below is a sam...

Re: Grub menu does not automatically launch an OS

Ok this fix was a lot simpler than I thought. For anyone else out there with this problem, or similar GRUB issues, here was the solution: I simply rename the file /boot/grub/grub.cfg to /boot/grub/grub.OLD. I then ran sudo update-grub to generate a new grub.cfg file. *POOF!!!* It magically works now...

Grub menu does not automatically launch an OS

Hello, I've had Mint 10 on my laptop for about 2 weeks now. Everything's been great so far! Only have really one issue that came up just hours before I decided to post this. When I installed Mint 10, I used the entire drive, and have no other operating systems installed. When installed, it didn't gi...

Re: WIne App won't launch from mainmenu

I'm getting the same problem in Mint 10 . . I think I have a workaround. If you make a simple script file that executes the wine command, you can reference the script from the menu launcher and it will work. For example, to make a script for Word: gedit ~/.wine/run_word and put the following code: ...
