Re: truncated screen

Thanks, MrEen: it works, shoulda thunkit myself. Looking a gift horse in he mouth, this appears a work-around that works, but is the narrow appearance of this site because it's optimized for windoze? Should I even ask if there is a fix involving linux system? Sorry, I can never leave well enough alo...

Re: truncated screen

Sorry. it's a site similar to yahoo finance. there is no problem in yahoo finance if I increase font size, but this new site goes bonkers with the larger font size. I can fix it with a smaller font. but it's hard to read. On this linux mint site, the entire screen is in use, as it is on yahoo. On th...

truncated screen

A new website I'm using utilizes 6 columns across. With my normal font size, I only see 4 columns across with 2 columns beneath. Is there any way to expand the screen without shrinking my font size to something unreadable? There is plenty of white space on either side of what's visible. Thanks in ad...

Re: firefox 52

Thanks for the help. I've suspected my mouse is worn out, I overuse it, very old, and I'll do the 'about config' thingy.
Meanwhile, I still believe 'not all updates are progress'! 8)
cheers!

Re: firefox 52

these are the dialog boxes that open up far too frequently, very annoying: 1. 'this connection is not secure.... ' when logging with username and p'word in spite of the fact I've done it hundreds of times before 2. 'open link in new tab... 'open link in new private window.. 'bookmark this link..... ...

Re: asus x553 screen resolution problems. Mint 17.2 mate

Pjotr: something just happened: boot went perfectly, screen is 1336x768 and I did nothing! I'm almost scared to turn it off now. Also, it turns out I misstated my version of Mint. I;m using Quiana, not an 'R' version, so I probably shouldn't do a kernel update. Thanks for your help, I learned someth...

asus x553 screen resolution problems. Mint 17.2 mate

Bought this laptop last month. Boot hangs on mint logo, but I can boot in recovery mode and then it works OK, except that the screen resolution wont go above 800x600. The display is capable of 1336x768 if there was a way to do it. Also, the unit won't shut off from menu, only by hitting power button...

Just happened again, FF open, TB closed. Something else must be at fault " FF not responding, 'force quit' or 'wait'. Did not wait, lol!

Re: Firefox is freezing up Thunderbird and Mint

Hi: this problem hasn't been confined to 17.2. Numerous past versions have had the same occurrence. I'm beginning to suspect having both FF and TB open at the same time is causing it. After it happens, and after frequent banging on numerous keys, I get the message 'system is not responding, and the ...

FIXED! Re: just updated: 'send link' option has disappeared

apparently, the geniuses at Mozilla decided to remove the most useful aspect of firefox. I'm not the only one complaining.
When will people get the message 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Update: NEVER MIND: I found the solution under 'file menu' . thanks! right click was easier!

just updated: 'send link' option has disappeared

yesterday, I could 'right-click' and send an interesting page to a friend using 'send link'. after mint-updating(179 files) today, that option is no longer available on right-click.
is there a fix for this? what happened?
thanks!

Re: web page display problem

vancouver sun: if I try to click on either 'news; or 'opinion' the drop down menus vigorously avoid my cursor by scooting sideways. the other headings work ok. weird! also, if I'm not on the original tab page, i:e: a page from a page, my bookmarks drop downs also avoid my cursor. I have to go back t...

Re: web page display problem

haven't installed anything. the funny thing is I have 2 pcs both running Mint 10, one has a 20" non-widescreen monitor, the other has a 19" widescreen, both pcs have the exact same problem. newspaper web pages are the worst, displays appear cramped, some are minimally superimposed. I can live with i...
