Re: Xfce 4.12 now in testing

Can also use the 'mepis and/or mx14 (packages changing to get ready for mx15) repo their backported to use on jessie (lmde2). I originally used used the experimental Debian packages (before they hit testing) then from debian testing as above, but the mepis/mx14 backport repo gives me no problems for...

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

Good luck with that. And when you are done can you share the steps you followed to get 4.12 running ? Done 4 or 5 times now. (compulsive distrohopper  LMDE, LMDE2 mateRC ,solydxk, sparkylinux both 3.6 and from openbox 4.0 RC. All on the 64 bit version. Used experimental debian has the meta...

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

More

Kdebian.org (don't let name fool you)

has many of the 'missing pieces' for Xfce4.12 (not the xfce4 'meta package or the goodies meta!) has mail-watcher & places plugins.

Still looking around their repo

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

Not to make this into another distro thread... But solydx (a distro) may be a better fit. It did birth in 'MintWorld' going seperate ways when 'LMDE(1) dropped suport for kde then xfce. Can do about same thing and add the 'LMDE2' repo. And probally have more Xfce bits (you forgot) baked in. ...

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

Have fully pointing to testing installed 'experimental debian repo' (will on testing, but may have more dependency problems than on sid) tried forcing version (from experimental) for the xfce4-panel 1st to see if work It worked! :D then crossed fingers (& toes) and tried the xfce4 'meta package'...

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

More chatter (slow day) Can move to testing if want Cinnamon (no unless use debian version) mate probably, xfce even more probable. delete preferences in apt uninstall mintsources & upgrademanager (accident happen... easier  ) Ialso install sparky repo (in FAQ at site) and ...

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

Just chatter  Was looking over the current thread for moving to testing. 2 points 1.experimental can be used from testing (during freeze even less breakage might happen  ) 2. not all packages/packagers use experimental, some go directly into 'sid' with no 'experimental' stage/progression....

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

Was also using 'Mate' to get around needed/want features of Xfce4.10 but like the Xfce panel and plugins better. :) Can put the xfce4-panel in mate, but need at least (1) mate panel (or becomes very unstable!) P.S. even had mate (only) with the xfce4-panel from experimental (love the intellig...

Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup)

Hi Gene :D (Forgot my login here, so long/old age) :P Also going to try Xfce on 'Betsy' but going to try the 'Debian-xfce' meta package (still even in 'betsy repos) over the mate64 version. P.S. their is a/the xfce4 meta package for 4.12 in experimental (never freezes their), had luck installing on ...

Re: <SOLVED> Can I, and how do I, safely disable mate panels

MATE panels allow placing applets anywhere you like them without using 30+ spacers to separate the right and left sides. one (1) only needed right click separator (spacer?) in properties set 'use available space' (or something like that) all plugins after separator are pushed opposite side Or use t...

Re: MDM themes?

Apparently some require updating: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=126979&start=280#p775641
I guess it depends on the theme. None of the mdm 1.2.5 themes I've tried failed on 1.3.2.

Thank you
Evidently missed that one

Try to install 'udisks-glue', its in the repos then test (it's a daemon) by using alt-F2 and run comand 'udisks-glue' (without quote) and try CDs/DVDs ect. if the daemon works you then put same comand in the autostart list. if doesn't work for what your asking you can reboot (so daemon not ru...

Re: How to show mounted volumes on desktop

In Xfce if the partitions designated /anything (as oposed as only in fstab list) become part of the file system. You can make a link in Thunar (file manager) and put on desktop. The home (if seperate partition or not) can be shown on desktop using that tab. Other distro/partitions will show as long ...

Re: Can't change background image since update

I fixed this a few minutes ago with settings manager, channel xfce-desktop and setting the desired wallpaper there. I have found one more monitor there which is weird, because I have desktop with only one monitor. I found some (exspecially the 'all-in-ones) desktops ar acually using laptop style mo...

Re: Screensaver turned off but still active

I believe (if using 2 monitors/tv thru hdmi) Both have a screensaver but Xfce (currently in LMint15) only shows one and the other uses the default (not shown) I deactivate my monitor using the 'lxrandr' app/package and put it on the panel. That way I can use the TV/HDMI and turn off the monitor. And...

Re: Software manager errors

IDK how to edit a file as root on Xfce, but you can at least do it on the terminal by running `sudo nano filename` Right click on file (in thunar) select open as administrator/root. Will open usually in gedit or mousepad with write privleges. J.Jay Edit P.S. can also chang it in synaptic package ma...

Re: some apps don't work after clean install

Not that it will help BUT... You may have created it by accident and it might be causing a conflict Many libs and file location of Xfce are not the same as mate so some configs from one to the other won't work, and/or will create a new config (because the other not found where shoud be) and you end ...
