Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

so a strange thing happened this morning. at precisely 7am, the time i had previously been trying to set up gnome-schedule to run my virtual machine, it started up virtualbox's winxp for me. this was the first time since i'd been trying to get it to go that it had actually succeeded, and the first t...

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

can you post the exact line you put into the scheduler? or maybe add a screenshot like in your original post, but one where you can actually read what's in the fields. better for me to just type all the lines i've tried, otherwise i may have about 20 pics to upload lol. 1) /home/troy/bin/start_vm 2...

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

thanks for the help, but when i try to run your script it doesn't work. i named it start_vm and this is what's in the file:

#! /bin/sh
vmbxmanager startvm [SuperiorXPx64]

if i just run it, it doesn't do anything. if i tell it to run in terminal, it doesn't do anything either.

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

did you try with the full path to VBoxManager? Maybe you need to put the whole line in quotes, because the parameters are not included when it executes? Try to put the command in a skript file and execute that! i tried the full path to vboxmanager. it will execute in terminal but not in gnome-sched...

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

Sorry, I'm biased, when I read VM, I think VMware :) Anyway, quick google search for "virtualbox start vm terminal" yields for example: http://www.howopensource.com/2011/06/how-to-use-virtualbox-in-terminal-commandline/ with more info than you are asking for :) Now to start a virtual mac...

Re: change home folder location

Also might want to look at making a symbolic link of your home folder into the directory of /home... It doesnt actually copy the files its simply like a link.. I dont know how well that would work but would put everything into one folder.. sudo ln -s /location/of/windows/folder/ /home/username/wind...

Re: schedule applet startup OR send signal to app with termi
