SOLVED: I found a program called SoundConverter. It works wonders! does m4a/p to .ogg or mp3 and a more.

I am able to convert a 300 meg audio file in 7-8 minutes. GREAT program.

maybe you just give a little more detail .. which device are you using? are you using 32bit (or 64bit Mint)? which version? where did you go for drivers please? didn't do anything that I can see. It still says "Memory: 22% in use by programs. 72% in use as cache"

its just the system monitor you can add to the panel.

I know its not swap because its not using the hard drive. Its in the ram.
