In other distro, like ubuntu, there's a icon that appears (only) when new update is available.

Hi. In my opinion, it would great if mintupdate's icon appears only when there are new upgrade. In this way the systray is more clear and have more space for other icons.

thanks, but i'm interested in which are technical differences. In particolar, which new tools is installed, and a description of that tools.
For example, MintUpload, MintBackup (how it works?), MintUpdate (what are differences from update's tool in ubuntu?)
