Some usb sticks have a little tab on the side that slides up and down. Try sliding it in the other direction.

Im having a similar problem. I have tried configuring Wine in XP and windows 7, but Kindle fails to open in either.

My grandson desperately wants me to install the train mod to minecraft for him. Ive googled for two days and cant figure it out. Hope someone can help.

I just downloaded the flashplayer installer from the package manager and it works fine in chromium. Not yet in firefox but Im hopeful it will after I close the browser and restart.

I had the same issue with a Toshiba netbook running Maya, yesterday. This fix worked perfectly and updates are now running smoothly. Thanks, Xenopeek! Maybe this should be sticky?

Toshiba netbook running Maya Mate, which is excellent, just lost sound and is showing the Dummy Output Stereo as in the screenshot above. Hoping for a solution.

Im having the same problem. I used unetbootin to make a Mint 13 xfce usb. It boots to a login screen with user name and password spaces. ???

Large volume icon flashing
In Mint 13 Maya Mate there is a large volume icon flashing on the bottom half of the screen every few seconds. I dont think it was there before I installed audacity, but uninstalling audacity didnt make it go away. Help?

Will Calibre download books from the kindle cloud?
I dont have a kindle either, so what is needed is a way to download the books from the kindle cloud to a linux pc. Then calibre can be used as a reader. But we need to get them into the computer first.
