Re: More RAM beneficial or waste of time for Kdenlive?

RAM size needed depends on resolution/codec/complexity. 16 gigs are enough for 1080p h264 hands down. If you can wait for the upgrade... just wait. What are you going to do with 32gigs of DDR3 when you ultimately decide to get a new comp (since you don't want to overspend on hardware parts)? Kdenli...

Re: More RAM beneficial or waste of time for Kdenlive?

Updating your Mint install fro 20.3 to 21.3 will pull in many new updates that may help with system stability when using kdenlive, you can also set your swappiness to 15 so that system memory is used more effectively before touching the swap partition or file which speeds things up. More memory wil...

More RAM beneficial or waste of time for Kdenlive?

My computer is 8 years old and I am wondering if increasing the RAM would be beneficial. It has 16GB DDR3 RAM. LInux Mint 20.3 MATE and Compiz. I mostly use the computer for browsing, email, YouTube and some video editing with Kdenlive. Kdenlive crashes regularly. (Kdenlive Version 19.12.3) I did wo...

Re: Advice on removing the Dual Boot with Windows please

Thanks for the good advice AndyMH and linux-rox
Doing a Windows backup now.
I still think it's a good time to do a fresh Linux install. Maybe Kdenlive will stop crashing.

Advice on removing the Dual Boot with Windows please

I have dual booted Linux Mint with Windows for many years. Now I want to get rid of Windows totally - after all I hardly ever boot into it anyway. I have made a note of my Windows 10 Product Key - just in case I want to have a Windows boot in the future. Q1. Is there anything else I should make a no...

Re: Garmin Dashcam 57 Dates

My Linux Mint 20.3 Una (Mate) now shows the video files as being 1 hour out.
On the video itself it shows 3:55pm (I assume it's pm) and the Linux Modified date time shows 14:55 which is equivalent to 2:55pm.

Re: Garmin Dashcam 57 Dates

I've found that on the Garmin 57 in the settings I can set it to UTC.
I will now see how it goes.

Re: Garmin Dashcam 57 Dates

I looked at those links but they do not answer my question. Why is my Linux computer telling me that the modified date is tomorrow when the Garmin videos were taken today? The correct date and time are showing in the panel (Thurs Sep 28) but the Date Modified column shows Fri 29 Sep 2023. https://dr...

Re: Garmin Dashcam 57 Dates

No we were not driving in the middle of the night. We were driving during the day.
The date modified as I understand it, should be the date and time the file was created on the Garmin - but it is not.

Garmin Dashcam 57 Dates

I have bought a Garmin Dashcam 57. It is set up correctly with the correct date and time. When viewing the video the correct date and time are displayed on the video. But when I open the SD card on my Linux Mint 20.3 desktop (Mate) the dates and times shown are both wrong. For example Caja showing D...

Re: "no caching mode page found" Is this a Problem?

Thanks, I've been ignoring it for months. I think it is because the USB hard drive does not have cache.

Re: Python 3.8 or 3.9 installed?

Thanks for your reply.
It will take me some time to process all you said.
One thing though - there have been times that pip told me that I did not have permissions to install and so I decided I had to use sudo.

Python 3.8 or 3.9 installed?

I am wondering if I have a mix up of Python 3.8 and 3.9 installed. I'm wondering because I can't get pyttsx3 to work in either IDLE, Pycharm community or VS Studio. Mint 20.3 Mate. In terminal: $ sudo pip3 install pyttsx3 Requirement already satisfied: pyttsx3 in /usr/local/lib/python3.8/dist-packag...
