Re: Bypass default-KVM settings for resolution?
I don't use KVM, although I was reading a blog that I have started reading from a guy who does a lot of stuff with Linux. He has this on KVM and how to change the default resolution. Hopefully it will fix your issue. https://web.archive.org/web/20161112042506/http://blog.bodhizazen.net/linux/how-to-...

Re: Linux Mint 10 and wireless
I too have a wireless issue, albeit a minor one. With past version of Mint the wireless would launch at boot up. Now with Julia it doesn't. I have to manually start it. Is there something I have to configure to get it to launch automatically? In the NetworkManager, in the config of your wireless, t...

Re: Linux Mint 10 won't reconnect
The reason it takes a minute or so after you suspend or sleep is because the adapter has to be woken up, then it has to acquire the signal again and then go through the process of getting an IP etc. No way to speed that up in this situation.

Re: wifi quits on battery power
Sounds like you have the section on power management on in the settings of your adapter. Type this in a terminal: iwconfig Should come up with something like this. txnca@SDBLMG10LT1 ~ $ iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"WRTR1" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462 GHz A...

Take a look at this thread here. They have been discussing the same issue with others who have that particular problem.

Re: Installation question regarding partition selection
First, you only need 1 swap file. Doesn't matter how many different Linux flavors you run, you just need one swap. To associate it in the manual partitioning phase, just highlight it and click on change and then leave it as it is, it will then use that swap for it's swap space. As for where you shou...

Re: How to create .iso from CD ?
FYI, an .img file is the same as an .iso file, so is .nrg and several others. The different file endings are just from different programs. I'm not sure who owns the .img but the .nrg is Nero Burning ROM program. The .iso is the international standard file name for an image file. So, if you have an ....

Re: What are your top tips for a Newbie?
While I myself am no longer a complete newbie to Mint, the thing that I don't think anyone here has said is this, DO NOT GIVE UP If you don't give up, and you do what the rest of the posts here say, you will do fine with Mint and Linux in general. You will learn a lot and you will be frustrated at t...

Re: How to create .iso from CD ?
Well, in Brasero, once you open it, click on Disk Copy, and when it comes up change the "Select Disk To Burn To" to "Image File", change the file name from Brasero.iso to whatyouwanttocallit.iso.
Then, click create image. There you go.
Then, click create image. There you go.

Re: wonky wireless
Have you ran a ping test to see if you are losing packets? That can have a big influence on your speeds and it would be very intermittent. I had that problem a few years back when I decided to upgrade the firmware of my router. When pushed it would start losing packets but that was the only time it ...

Re: Downloading software issues
So, do you have a Broadcom wireless card/USB dongle? And if so, was it working before you did this fix? Or did this fix it? I'm asking because a lot of people are having problems with a Broadcom wireless card/USB dongle which they can't get working and maybe this is the fix for it or at least one of...

Re: GNOME keyring is just annoying
Another way to do it is to click the little + sign that you see that says Details. When you do it gives you the option to have it remember your password and to work when you log in to your desktop and to stay working until you log off. THEN you have the security you want without the constant need to...

Re: Forum Membership Ranks/Levels, Why?
When I first joined here I took note of what certain people were saying and weighing it according to how many posts they had made. :? I now know that was foolish on my part, but it did help with a lot of stuff I was reading. When I would come across one of Fred's posts or DrHu's posts I knew that wh...

Re: Question about conky photo setup
Hey, I just found this which basically makes your picture truly random. I believe that is what the problem is. To make it truly random you have to call an outside script which this is. Here is what this person did to make it work. Here is link to this post on that other forum. i use a script to gene...

Re: Bios Problems
I have set my BIOS to activate numlock at boot. When I boot LM 9 the numlock light turns off when the grub boot screen appears, even before I enter my Grub selection. When boot is finished, the numlock key is not lit and the keypad doesn't work for entering numbers. Everything else is fine. Why is ...
