Re: Linux Mint 14 RC
The only issue i've noticed with LM14 is with the screen recorders i use. Videos made with gtk-recordmydesktop have sound which is very slow and deep, regardless of what i set the FPS to be. Videos made by Kazam contain weird colours and bars as well. Both worked fine on Linux Mint 13 :? Kazam also ...

You could also maybe check out Transmageddon - http://www.linuxrising.org/index.html
or Arista Transcoder - http://www.transcoder.org/
I think both are available in Linux Mint.

Re: Install as dual boot now and delete Windows later?
Here's a link to a little tutorial i made about removing Windows from a dual-boot setup.
It's over 2 years old but i'm sure most of it, still applies to recent Linux Mint versions.
Might give you a better understanding of what you will need to do.

I've also had this error. I've tried the unstable version from the PPA but still get the same error.
I don't know what is causing the error to occur.

Re: Linux Mint 14 "Nadia" RC released!
If your referring to the Jockey program not being available, you can always just open the Synaptic Package Manager and install the nvidia-current package along with it's dependencies.BubbaBlues wrote:I tried Mint 14 cinnamon and now I'm trying mate. The nvidia driver download does not work in either of them.

[Cinnamon] network manager applet
Recently switched from MATE to Cinnamon 8) I've noticed that the Network Manager applet and window do not provide a way for me easily import my openVPN configs. For example in the old Gnome 2 version, there was a import option which would automatically fill out all the required fields after i import...

Re: Grub Opening page and changing Boot Order
Here's a program which i think will allow you change the GRUB2 bootloader - http://www.webupd8.org/2012/09/grub-cus ... eased.html
I haven't personally used it so can't say if it's good or not, but seems to be very useful.

Re: Creating Partition For Windows
Your friend is probably thinking of the program called "gparted" I recommend using the LiveCD of Gparted to edit the partitions on the hard drive. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php What you will need to do is resize the main partition that Linux Mint is using, for example here is a...

Re: Google Chrome outdated plugin (flash) fix
Hate to be a stickler, but this is a pretty bad idea as far as internet security is concerned. I agree but it's up to the Linux Mint developers what flash version they want to package. FYI: I've been watching flash content (and youtube) beautifully since replacing the mint-flashplugin with the adob...

not sure if LM has this (might need to be installed), but when I'm on Debian i run in a terminal, set the theme to GTK+ and the font,
Close the window, it will ask do i want to save, hit yes and my QT programs instantly match up near perfect with my GTK programs.
Code: Select all
qtconfig qt4

Re: Dropbox running from an unsupported location
Why bother with mint-dropbox or caja-dropbox, when you can just use the deb package already packaged by the dropbox team ?
