Re: How to run Unity on Mint KDE?

I can't see the point of doing that, I have Kubuntu 11.10, Linux Mint 12, Ubuntu 11.10 and Zopin OS 5 on different partitions. It is much easier to keep them separate.

Re: Wifi and Kwallet

My advice is to just disable KDE Wallet, I never really understood why is there anyway? It is more trouble than it is worth.

Re: Skype problems?

It doesn't seem to be possible to use that program on here. I click on it & it comes up with the top of the window for it, & the indication of activity but then it just disappeared again! Several times. Sorry, I'm rather new to Linux, didn't hear about Mint until recently & I did get Lisa first (wh...

I think that Debian based distros (.deb) are better than .rpm based distros. This is just my opinion ;).
Agree.

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Kubuntu is Ubuntu based which derives from Debian. Mepis and LM KDE are both directly derived from Debian Stable. So again, what is the USP for Mint v Mepis? I should point out that I'm not a great fan of Mepis, yes it very stable but it is also very trailing edge compared to Kubuntu. I just see Min...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I can't really understand why anybody would choose LMDE KDE 12 over Mepis 11/12, maybe somebody could sell it to me? The reason will probably be why someone chooses Mepis 11/12 over another KDE distro, simply personal choice. Oh thanks for that, what an informative answer. I like Mint because it is...

I can't really understand why anybody would choose LMDE KDE 12 over Mepis 11/12, maybe somebody could sell it to me? why? Re: Mint Katya running a vanilla KDE install

Mint Menu isn't a part of Mint KDE. If you want to make it like Mint, just make sure your Mint Update Manager is running correctly, and replace the stock menu widget with Lancelot Launcher, which was the default menu in Mint 10 KDE. If Lancelot was the default menu on Mint 10 KDE, why did I have to...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

The major issue with Kubuntu is following 3: 1. the KCM-grub2 is not included as default. 2. unless you remove the autoboot default item after xxx seconds or hold "SHIFT", the grub menu cannot be displayed  probably it is Grub2's style? :-/ It display as Ubuntu instead of Kubuntu, confusing u...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I find it baffling why KDE/Kubuntu go to extraordinary lengths at times to bury such simple features which you would assume ought to be standard. Such as? It's puzzling why the Snap Icon to Grid feature only works in Folder View mode I would hazard a guess that in the view of the KDE Devs it doesn'...

You can't add icons to the desktop if your widgets are locked. Right click on the desktop, then click "unlo...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Replaced PCLinuxOS on my spare machine with Kubuntu 11.10 and I must say I am well impressed. As others have already said, I think this is the best KDE distro to date (and by some margin). I installed it last week it is very good but there are some really annoying aspects to it as well. I find it b...

You also have to enable the Ubuntu (without K) backports repo. You can add this line to Software Sources (the Others tab): deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu natty-backports main universe multiverse restricted. Enabling Mint's backports on the frontpage of Software Sources is senseless as that re...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Gnome 3 fallback mode (without shell) looks more like Gnome 2, than like Unity. By the way, this topic is about Mint 11 KDE, but we're talking about Gnome and Unity. If LMDE KDE is as unstable and trailing edge as some are saying there will be a lot of defections back to Kubuntu and maybe Ubuntu ba...
