Re: Linux Mint 13 Xfce beeping
I doubt I would be much help because the error has to do with your networking device/s. I do know part of the error message is missing. It should be more along the lines of cfg80211: failed to add phy80211 symlink to netdev The problem could be with your modprobe, a kernel error or something may nee...

Re: Virus in usr/lib/codecs/
Not trying to sound condescending, but an antivirus in Linux imho is like wearing a belt and suspenders. I've run 'nix for about 15 years now with zero AV and have suffered no problems virus-wise. If I didn't install it myself from a trusted source, it isn't going to get in. As for the questionable ...

Re: unable to delete corrupted files?
If it does happen again, try sudo rm -r name-of-file

A tip to watch out for
Not sure where this would go sooooo. I've spent the last month trying to find something that didn't act like it was broken and as it turns out, the distro's weren't broken at all. I'm running an x686 with a wired mouse. I had problems with what seemed like the monitor freezing yet had keyboard funct...

Re: how to choose which application opens torrent
I don't know if you know how to download torrents or not soooo. Download your torrent from PirateBay and sve it to where you can find it. Open Deluge or whatever you're wanting to use from your menu. It should be under "internet". When Deluge opens click on File in the upper left hand corn...

Re: Pls., which is more lighweight---
I'm running XFCE on a 486 with 1 gig of ram. I've also installed E17, lxde, openbox, blackbox and fluxbox. They all boot the same for me with no tweaking. I prefer XFCE because I have more options so I stuck with it and tweaked it so that it's fully booted and online in about 25 - 28 seconds. I neve...

KOOLDOCK
I'm using Celena with the Gnome panel and desktop that come standard. I tried Dreamlinux out a few weeks ago and liked the standard desktop there. There was a panel at the top of the screen to dock just opened apps and Kooldock was used at the bottom for the system menu. Does anyone know of a way to...

You can also navigate to your desktop folder, select the folder that you do not want to show on your desktop and rename it by putting a period at the beginning of the current name, for instance,,,,,, if the name of an icon on your desktop is /dev/hda6, rename it ./dev/hda6. This will make the folder...
