Re: Wait.. will MATE be in Mint 14? Confused...
ah but cinnamon don't work on all hardware configurations if your graphics ar not up to it it defaults to mate But then couldn't the person just use XFCE if their hardware is old? I been using xfce and my hardware isnt old... I just rather have a real desktop instead of a crappy tablet interface an...

Re: Mint 13 LTS ideas?
it would be nice to have a LM13 Mate cd iso (with just mate and only mate on it) Agree with that. MATE was so well hidden in LM12, it wasn't even available in live mode... I remember some people here at the forums were quite surprised to find out it's already installed :) I'm not sure MATE is stabl...

Re: Mint 13 LTS ideas?
been playing with LM12 Mate.. really like mate.
it would be nice to have a LM13 Mate cd iso (with just mate and only mate on it) for a release instead of having to install with the G3 crap.. then go in install mate via repos then try and remove all the G3 crap.

Re: Where is LXDE 64bit?
1. I think the reason why no 64 is its just never been made since LXDE is/was used primarily for "older systems" 64 was never needed. How ever if this is correct all that would be needed is remaking the lxde deb packages for 64 to have lxde 64. 2. someone else will have to answer that but ...

Re: Cinnamon, Gnome 3, XFCE, KDE, and the Death of Ubuntu
My intention was not to criticize but to use Debian LXDE as an example of that not always the DE is what decides the fate of a distribution. If you like it the way it comes, that's good, but something you can often find in any Debian review (and I mean serious review) is that out-of-the-box Debian ...

Re: Cinnamon, Gnome 3, XFCE, KDE, and the Death of Ubuntu
. but some (if not all) of its own desktop "metapackages" are almost a disaster! (just give Debian LXDE a try). I have found debian lxde to be quite nice imo. only thing I added to it was network manager gnome. I did remove iceweasel and add the mint repo and installed FF9 also added mint...

Re: Why is Linux Mint so popular?
Now I use a simpler desktop (lxde), which is closer to the older Linuxes with some *.txt file editing being the main method of dealing with system configurations.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LXDE I have grown to love LXDE! anyway. why I think mint is so popular is this, Mint listens to the commun...
