Re: Is Mint Debian stable?

Debian Stable is used for critical servers in large corporations (In cases where Red Hat is not used). Debian Stable is rock solid, unbreakable without a user tinkering. Debian Testing is still more stable than most desktop Linux distros, and I'd trust Debian Unstable with my computer long before I'...

Re: LMDE was what I meant all along

I first used Linux when I was, I don't know, maybe 12. I started with Ubuntu 7.10. I loved it, it was very simple, I could browse the web, and get things done quickly, and efficiently, without any extra work. This was when I had very little knowledge of computers, and especially Linux. I became hook...

Re: Gnome Panel no longer working

To get the latest versions of my packages. I did dist-upgrade rather than using the update manager because apt-fast is much faster than apt-get, which the update manager uses.

Gnome Panel no longer working

I just installed LMDE last night, and already my desktop is broken. Gnome-Panel does not launch on startup like it's supposed to. In gconf-editor panel is listed under required_components_list. In required_components, the string for panel is gnome-panel. So, gnome-panel should launch with the other ...

Isadora Theme changes on startup.

Every time I reboot my computer, the theme defaults back to Raleigh and the Gnome icon pack. If I open the Appearence window, without doing anything it automatically changes my theme back to Shiki-Wise, though my icons stay Gnome, and the Nautilus File Manager still uses the Raleigh theme. I can't f...

Re: Questions about xfce, fluxbox, and lxde community editio

Gnome is, in my opinion the most user friendly environment, but out of those 3, I'd pick XFCE out of personal experience, though I haven't used Fluxbox or LXDE a whole lot. As for which is the lightest, XFCE is about 200mb, LXDE is about 30mb, and I'm not sure about Fluxbox, but like I said, I have ...

Plantronics Audio 655 Headset (Volume Button Issue)

Everything in Linux Mint 8 has been working perfectly for me, right after install. I have to say, for the longest time, I've been quite attatched to Ubuntu, but from using Linux Mint for two days, it's been amazing. My only complaint with Linux Mint, (A problem that also happened with Ubuntu) is a d...
