Re: Trying to set up on-line banking

Update I don't want to tempt providence, but I got a result! Went to the bank and told them the problem. A delightful young lady brought up my details on the screen, and would you believe it? I am registered, but have never used it. No wonder it wouldn't let me register. That prompted vague recolle...

Re: Trying to set up on-line banking

Thank you all for your replies, queries and suggestions. I have been a Barclays customer since 1968, and have never changed my account, nor banked with any other bank. I am quite sure that I am entering my details correctly. I did find a Barclays On-Line help page, and have emailed them asking if Li...

Re: Trying to set up on-line banking

I haven't made myself clear - it's a habitual fault I'm afraid. As I say in the OP " I'm trying to set up an on-line account with Barclay's Bank, but the process fails at the first hurdle with a 69 error" The references to Windows in the script I posted in the OP made me wonder if Linux was t...

Re: Trying to set up on-line banking

Thanks for your replies and suggestions.

I'm running FF ver, 69.0 and I'm not running any av.
I'm running AdBlock Plus, so will stop it for that page.
I have Chrome as a backup browser, so will try that if clearing FF history, cookies and cache doesn't work.

Trying to set up on-line banking [Solved]

One for our UK members mainly. I'm running Mint 18.3 Mate, and I'm trying to set up an on-line account with Barclay's Bank, but the process fails at the first hurdle with a 69 error. Googling the error I found this: Causes of "error code 69" Source If you have received this error on your PC, it mean...

Re: Software manager disappeared

I'm running Mint 18.3 and "lost" Software Manager after following the above instructions to remove Flatpack. Successfully reinstated Software Manager as advised above, but got Flatpack back as well. flatpak remote-delete flathub didn't work for me, I get the error "flathub not found". So how do I re...

Re: 'Email not sent' message

Thank you for that.... I was googling from Google UK, so the first hit wasn't what you described, so I changed to plain ole Google, and away we went! Anyway, it went on to talk about changing the mms in the address to txt, which I've done, and am waiting for a reply to see if it works. Will keep upd...

Re: 'Email not sent' message

Thanks for the links, from which I have to assume that <operator.com> is one of the adware family mentioned in the first link. "For so many years, the internet is getting flooded with search engine hopefuls. Unfortunately, most of them were made to control browser application to accomplish illicit a...

'Email not sent' message

It's never happened before, but I recently tried to reply to an email sent from my SIL's phone [ ......@mms.att.net] in the US, and got a reply "The email sent failed." from <no-reply@operator.com> I've checked Google and Snopes for information about <no-reply@operator.com> without success. Does any...

Re: Avoiding using the mouse

You've said what you'd like to do, and the reasons for it.
What you haven't done is ask a question, or are you just seeking others opinions?
It might be helpful if you say what sort of computer you're using - though I suspect from what you've said, it's a desktop.

Re: No password option in Nemo GUI's "Compress Files"

Thanks for the prompt reply, but I'm not after anything quite so sophisticated.
All I want to do is password protect a folder in my Home directory, so that anyone using my laptop wouldn't be able to access that particular folder.

Re: No password option in Nemo GUI's "Compress Files"

Resurrecting this helpful thread....... GUI based zip encryption is still available although it may be different that you are accustomed to... but this is the way I always do it >>> Select file(s) and/or folder(s)... point to selected and right click... dialogue box pops up... the choice "compress" ...

Will leave topic open in case it returns.

Strange background 'interference'

My laptop has suddenly developed a sort of coloured 'interference' What could this be? Are my graphics on the way out? Rebooting doesn't help. I tried to post a screenshot but got a message " File too large: Screenshot at 2019-06-26 11-05-32.png " That's never happened before with a screenshot. norm...

Re: [RESOLVED]issue with update of Adobe Flash

The question still remains regarding alternatives to Shockwave Flash if required when not available. " But what happens to all the existing content out there that can be rendered only on the Flash player? For existing Flash content, the eventual, final version of the Flash plug-in will still work a...
