Re: Terminal icon missing from panel
Make sure that the application is installed correctly. You can check this by opening the Software Manager and searching for the application. If the application is not listed, you can try installing it again..................I hope it will work. Thank you - it did work. For some strange reason the '...

Terminal icon missing from panel (Solved)
Linux Mint 20.3
Something I've just noticed, don't know how long it's been missing, also it doesn't appear in the list of "Add to Panel".
I can put it in a panel by right-clicking on it in the Menu, but after a reboot it's gone again.

Re: what to do if my computer won't be suspended after the time i set it to suspend?
......I forgot to turn the mouse and keyboard off but the system still went to suspend mode last time.. I'm not sure why it is one way some of the time and another way in other times When I first had my similar issues, I found two things: When I selected 'Suspend' the laptop would suspend, but with...

Re: Desktop slow to load
Could try looking at the following and look for longer time gaps, but on the whole, if everything is ok apart from the boot, I wouldn't worry. journalctl -b $ journalctl -b -- Logs begin at Thu 2021-09-16 13:06:49 BST, end at Tue 2023-01-10 11:57:30 GMT. -- Jan 10 10:48:54 normh-nSpire3 kernel: mic...

Re: Desktop slow to load
Thanks again for your interest and suggestions. Everything works normally once the desktop has fully loaded, quite fast, in fact. Nothing untoward in System Monitor. The desktop and panels (I have two panels) appear straight after logging in, and then there's a time delay of about 8 seconds loading ...

Re: Desktop slow to load
Slightly off-topic but relevant nevertheless............. Trying to go back to previous kernel (LTS), but can't access grub. Tried holding ESC, then r/h SHIFT during boot, but it won't show. Edited /etc/default/grub to change timeout from 0 to 5 - still not showing. Yes, I did run 'update grub' Hold...

Re: Desktop slow to load
OK, I ran Timeshift as suggested, and when the laptop rebooted, the desktop and icons appeared as they should, with no time delay, but......... After I ran Update Manager (as it was telling me there were updates available), when I rebooted, the desktop and icon delay had returned. So it has to be so...

Re: Desktop slow to load
Thanks to those who have replied with suggestions. I'm not at all sure about any need to change kernel, because..................... The laptop has been working perfectly well until this recent hiccup. This little issue has only happened in the last week, and I have not, knowingly, made any changes ...

Re: Desktop slow to load
I have been through all the apps in Startup Applications including the hidden ones, deselecting one at a time and rebooting. None of the apps appears to be causing this issue. I then either re-selected the app, or left it de-selected. Some I didn't interfere with - Power Manager, PrintQ applet, Upda...
