Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I don't get the whole stringing people along thing, who does that benefit? Is Mint striving to be an example of how not to manage a "community" based distro? First the CE gets dropped, allegedly striving for more parity. But unable to make a decent KDE spin from Ubuntu base. Then abandonme...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Yep, just totally forgotten. I don't think kde people are high on the priority list at Mint headquarters. :? I think it is a chicken or egg thing... There aren't a ton of Mint KDE users, but what was the last really great Mint KDE release? I currently run Kubuntu having found the last 2 or 3 (or is...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

Seriously? ? ?? ? Really? ? ? ? SERIOUSLY ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? :?: You find it odd that users in a MINT FORUM could not care one bit about what happens with krapbunutu? ? REALLY ? I can tell you from first hand trying the krapbuntus that Boo does a TREMENDOUS AMOUNT of work to CORRECT MAJOR SHORT...

Re: How do I change the Lancelot color scheme?

I think Lancelot draws its colors from the system color scheme, so it wouldn't have a color chooser of its own. Either that, or from the Plasma theme. Look in System Settings/Application Appearance/Colors and/or System Settings/Workspace Appearance/Desktop Theme Play around with those until you find...

Re: Dropbox setup fails

Here is what I would do, Steven. Uninstall Dropbox using Synaptic. Go to Dropbox.com and download and install the appropriate DEB (32 or 64 bit). Then run it from the menu and it should guide you through the rest of the install. The version in the repos is usually several versions behind. On a side ...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

Well that is good news. I am looking forward to KDE 4.6. I gave it a try on Kubuntu, but did not get a stable install. It will be interesting to see what kernel ships with it. I am currently running Pardus 2011 with KDE 4.5, I was torn if I was going to "upgrade" to Mint; this makes that d...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

see, gnome is their flagship product, and that is released in good time after Ubuntu final is released...............but with kde sadly there is no deadline ............ you might actually see ubuntu releasing 11.04 before this. :) Linux Mint Gnome was not released till it was ready. The same will g...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

Great news, Boo. Appreciate your efforts and look forward to giving it a spin. ive tried pardus 2011 thats based on kde 4.5.5 and kernel 2.6.37, must say, pardus has shaped up real sharp and clean especially their setup/ installation menu. I, too, just gave Pardus a try for the first time. Incredibl...

Excited to see it coming together. My laptop is backed up and waiting :P

+1 kmb42vt
I would think Mint would be one of the last distros a zealot would choose.

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

Most probably a fantastic release, but taking a bit to long, by the time we get this 10.10 release we will probably see a Kubuntu 11.0 release. Too true. I'll put Mint KDE on my laptop the day the RC is announced, but I'll probably skip it on my desktop. Kubuntu is really good enough (and more;-) I...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

It is great to see some action on the community site. Kubuntu Maverick is (in my opinion) the best Kubuntu ever, can't wait to see what Boo does with KDE 4.5.x.

Re: mint kde edition from inside gnome 10rc

There isn't a Mint 10 KDE (yet?). I just checked the community site and there hasn't been any activity. Back in May, Clem posted to the Mint Blog: Community Editions: No more references will be made to “CE”s. These editions will now become official and efforts will be made for them to be released as...

You can leave it, then if updated packages are added to the repositories, you will get them.

I wish you the best with this project...it really seems like a worthy effort. The website really needs a contact/about page. I can't imagine that many folks would go through the trouble of a Paypal form without knowing who is getting the money and how to contact that person should the product not ar...

As was I, a great E17 implementation.

I would give them some time to mature, remember that at version 2.0 Mint was referred to as Ubuntu+codecs.

I was afraid to try to remove it, but you can disable it from "System Settings/Advanced/Service Manager" by un-ticking PowerDevil.
