Re: What are you most dissatisfied with in Linux Mint?

The abortion some hack performed on Synaptic to attempt to make it Mint-centric. What a waste of code. The software manager is crap. Thank God for the terminal.

Re: System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon

My cinnamon install crashed twice today after installing some software with synaptic. It installed the programs fine but crashed on reloading.

Re: RC of Linux Mint 13 is available

The release candidate of Linux Mint 13 (Maya) is available on the mirror servers . I am writing this from a live session of the x64/Cinnamon flavour, and I am pretty impressed. Very good speed, it looks very neat, no real glitches so far. Thank you for sharing. I agree that Mint 13 Cinnamon is real...

Call them up and see if they use Foxxcon motherboards. If so, they're junk.I'm on #3 in a 2 year old FPC-Intel rig. Thank God for warranties.

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

I was always an XFCE player, but I primarily used Gnome on my main rig until SalineOS came out. Right now I'm a Bodhi addict. I love E17. I think when the LTS(12.04) version of Bodhi(2.0) comes out that'll be a permanent fixture on my main machine. XFCE 4.10 is looking awesome and I'll see what Nord...

Re: Linux Mint 12 KDE "fast fast fast"

It's interesting how people get attached to things. I was a Gnome guy since Stormix and a Mozilla suite user under Win 2000 light. The Firefox owned me for many years. Now ? I wouldn't touch Gnome with a loaded shotgun and Chrome is my favorite cruiser. I'm on XFCE and Enlightenment these years. BTW...

Re: fastest ubuntu,debian distro

I just installed Debian Squeeze XFCE by way of debian-6.0.3-amd64-netinst . I have to say it is the fastest by far of any of the full featured OS I have ever used. It is using only less than 100 MB memory and everything is blazing fast. (Takes <10 seconds from Grub to Desktop ) I think the ...

Re: Mint LMDE...How techie should I be to use it?

A "rolling release", to me, is goofy. Debian stable is the most stable OS on the planet.
The problem is the screwball attitude of " totally free-no take bath much' keeps it useless for someone who wants to jump out of the Windo$e.
That's where SalineOS comes in.
