It seems we are talking two things here.

Select Start Up programs tab.

Re: Improving Cinnamon

My List 1. Freezing, crashing issue is central right now. Applets are always a hit or miss if they will work. Often requires "dependencies". 2. I would like Expo and Scale combined. In overview I want to move windows across desktops, add desktops, but also close windows. I don't want to ha...

Re: Cinnamon issues

I just recently installed Linux Mint 13 with Cinnamon and everything has been going well. I tried to download and install new themes by extracting them and moving them to usr-share-themes. After I did this when I opened Cinnamon settings, everything is blank and I only see the close button. What ha...

Why not Peppermint. It uses some Mint Repos and is LXDE from my memory.

Re: Linuxmint 13 release date?

While I have been looking for information lately on M13, I definitely prefer the Mint way over Ubuntu. The release when ready is much preferable to the we'll fix it in the next release. One thing to keep in mind, this LTS will be a five yearer (assuming they stay consistent to Ubuntu release cycle) ...

Re: Cinnamon to be default in Mint 13?

I hope both are released. I don't know if mint is unique in this regard but folks distros are all over the place. Each getting 20% or so. I have and love Cinnamon on my netbook, but MATE looked crappy. Have an old desktop and MATE looks great. It would be great to have a look across MATE / Cinnamon ...

Re: Mint 12 driving me mad!

HDD is partitioned to that my /home is on it's own partition and I was running Mint 11 about 6 months and absolutely loved it. I was really excited about Mint 12 and really wanted to try it because everyone was raving about it. Yesterday I installed Mint 12 overriding my Mint 11 install, but keepin...

Re: MintMenu Gone, UI is exactly like Ubuntu

I could not agree more. What appears included is the dummy Ubuntu menu with the favorites coming from Gnome Shell. Mint menu, at least for me, was the foundation of the Mint experience. I think this is my biggest disappointment with M12. I loved the ability to install, remove, edit, change icons etc...

This is frustrating. I can't use the scroll bar because as soon as I click bottom arrow notification bar pops up. How do I get rid of it.

Try compiz --replace

If it reverts to metacity dragging won't work. I have compiz set as described and it works for me.

Re: My case for Gnome 3 shell in LMDE and Mint 12

I went LMDE as an insurance policy against Unity / Gnome 3. I hope they don't go Gnome 3, but my LMDE system manager says I am running 3.0.2 Gnome so go figure. I hate XCFE, its buggy and only works some of the time, and is no alternative for someone who is not wanting to go Unity / Gnome 3 route.

So, is the latest LMDE Gnome 3. System Manager says I am running Gnome 3.0.2. So is this fallback mode or am I misunderstanding something. It feels like Gnome 2.

the more people using the LMDE the quicker the switch will be I have tried LMDE but i still don't like it, it still needs one or two fixes then I will switch 3500 to 400 says a lot. While LMDE is certainly in no position to replace Main, I certainly believe energy could be spent on it in contrast t...

Re: Mint Menu Search Freezes Mintmenu

Yes, just noticed this, its a pain. I was using WebupD8 version which was fine, but no install function. Updated it and after 3rd letter it froze and had to reboot. The issue is selecting "packages to install". After its deselected you can delete mintmenu in .linuxmint. I agree that this i...

Mint Update vs CLI

Sorry if this has been posted but was unable to find it referenced anywhere. In Mint Update I use the safety controls, but use CLI for all updates. My question is if one updates via CLI are safety settings honored.

Re: mint4win for linux mint debian?

I would agree with others. My experience with WUBI is so so. It became unusable after a cold boot. This happened multiple times. On tests though it out performed a regular install on some tests, but still risky IMHO. Any problem with Live CD, STOP, do not go past go. Find out what the problem was, h...

Re: Ridiculous low performance in Video streaming (youtube)

I am surprised it was not mentioned but what about flash. There is a flash free and flash not free, and just recently after uninstalling the non free version it fixed this problem. So, the first thing I'd check is if you have free and un-free flash and try it with just free (package manager) version...
