Re: Wine- ubuntu executable bit [SOLVED]

Thank you for your reply and fix, it works nicely. My reference to ubuntu was simply in reference to the source of the wine packages in the repositories. I have been a happy Mint user for around 2 years now and have no intention of changing.. How if at all, will this affect future releases of Mint? ...

Re: Browser problems, both chromium and firefox

Thanks but I don't think a work around is going to help much.. This is what has been happening for the last few days, I can't even get the game to load. The white and black boxes just keep moving around the screen.. Screenshot-Dragons of Atlantis on Facebook (19) - Mozilla Firefox.png . Is there som...

Browser problems, both chromium and firefox

I play a couple of FB games and one in particular is giving me loads of grief.. The main problem with both browsers, is not being able to select items in-game from drop down boxes and an extra with chromium not being able to input number values with the numpad. I have mint 10 64 installed (both KDE ...

Re: PC CDrom games

Hello, I recently changed from Windows to Ubuntu and then in a matter of days changed to Linux Mint as I had read this was easier for beginners (I certainly agree). My kids have some PC games which they are unable to play, can someone please talk me through what I need to do to get them working (an...

Volume control problems

Up until recently there have been no problems, everything worked nicely. Now for the last week or so, the volume control on my keyboard is no longer working, the volume control applet won't open and always indicates volume at 68% not matter what the volume is. When I change volume with pulse audio v...

Re: Chromium error

A couple of thoughts come to mind, but no definite solutions. Is there any chance you left the Gnome install by either hibernate or sleep before opening KDE and it is finding remnants of Chromium in either ram or /swap? I do as you and share a /home partition with LM 9 Gnome and LMDE. Do you have s...

Chromium error

I have installed Mint 10 KDE on a separate partition alongside Mint 10 Gnome. Both installs share the same /home, which has never caused problems in the past. Yesterday I installed Chromium and receive the message below each time i try to start it. The profile appears to be in use by process 2266 on...

Re: Fresh Mint 10 install won't play nice with medibuntu rep

This happened a few days ago so i decided to wait and try the update again.. The error is still present, I have looked for alternate mirrors as was suggested in another post and managed to find a site in Australia that hosts both Mint and Ubuntu. The good thing about this site is, my isp is unmetere...

Re: Update replaced new with old version

If you use the update manager, all available updates / changes are preselected, if you select install updates without de-selecting the ones you don't want, the system automatically replaces your installed version with the one in the repository. I use Chromium but a more recent version than the one f...

Re: Webcam Problem - Hercules Deluxe Webcam

Sometime ago I had a generic type cam that I couldn't get to work until someone suggested trying another usb slot. I moved it from the rear ports to a front port (don't ask me why) it worked.
I hope your solution is that simple..

Re: Skype & Logitech Cam with different execution command

If you have found the bash command works you could always turn it into a bash script, place it in /home/your user name/bin call it something easy to remember then just use terminal to start skype via your script.

I found this howto great; http://linuxcommand.org/wss0010.php#write

Re: software to make .exe from gambas

You could always consider setting them up with a linux mint setup on their computers. I have converted several friends to linux simply by showing my setup to them. A virtual install is a good way to start.. http://www.linuxliveusb.com/ you can carry it around in your pocket, plug it in and away you ...
