Re: [Suggestion] Add an option to change the speed of the wheel of the mouse

Nor are the a about:config settings in Firefox as mentioned in this thread. It results in very difficult to control acceleration. You may try tuning mousewheel.system_scroll_override.horizontal.factor and mousewheel.system_scroll_override.vertical.factor instead. They tune the scroll speed directly...

Re: [Suggestion] Add an option to change the speed of the wheel of the mouse

It would be very appreciated. I wish I could adjust how many lines it jumps hen you use the scroll wheel. I listen to an audio book, and read the text at the same time. (Don't ask me to make sense of that habit. LOL) All factors taken into consideration, because of the size of he text box, etc, when...

Thank you very much to all of you!! Yeah, even the guy looking down his nose at me for not using the keyboard, instead of a gui. ROFLOL (Just more things for this tired old mind to have to memorize.) (But it IS nice to know of an alternative!!) Seriously, thank you all! :D I never got any mor...

Re: Change show desktop button icon

Thank you for the effort. You have exactly the right idea. And location. Kinda. Almost. But it's the wrong one. I believe I have it located. But had myself a comedy of errors. My mouse has been glitching. It 'clicks' when I didn't want it to. It drops when I didn't intend. Etc. When copying this ico...

[SOLVED] Change show desktop button icon

I love how easy it is to change the icons for some things. Notably, the icons on the panels. Just right click the icon, choose properties, click on the icon button within the 'properties' box, then navigate to a different icon. I've always been careful to choose the same size icon, but I have no ide...

Re: How to stop those annoying panel popups?

Thank you!!! It took me a bit to find that spot on the panel. My problem was that I had moved everything from the bottom panel to a new top panel that I had created. That spot on the panel disappeared for all intents and purposes. When I moved something back down from the top panel, it just appeared...

[SOLVED] How to stop those annoying panel popups?

I just installed Linux Mint 21.2 MATE Version. Really liking it so far. Well, except for those annoying large popups that appear any time I get near the icons on the bottom panel, for programs that I have open. I have searched for this. Here, and everywhere else I can think of, on the net. NO answer...

Re: [SOLVED] Firefox won't save websites properly

1. This isn't "solved". I have the same problem, and I use 'save webpage complete'. Double saving only works once in a while. The majority of pages still never completely download. 2. What is the add-on, please?? On edit: I have noticed that the most difficult pages are those with a LOT of...

Replacement calendar for the panel?

Ok, first I want to say, I am talking about the very simple calendar that sits on the panel. I am not interested in a calendar app. Or calendar program. Etc... That you open up elsewhere, and has a bajillion bells and whistles. I don't want something to set reminders on. Or all the other bajillion o...

Zenity

For the first time in years,, I visited a website, and my computer completely locked up. In a bit, it unlocked enough that I could click something and wait a few minutes and something would happen. It was like playing a newer game on a really old computer. Very very slow. And some things still didn'...

Re: Black screen of seeming deadness

you spelled it wrong, just copy the code I can't just copy the code. I have to reboot to get to that prompt. A "copy" procedure doesn't last through a reboot. LOL I have to write it down by hand on a piece of paper. Reboot. Get to the prompt. Then type it all in. But you were correct. I w...

Re: Black screen of seeming deadness

find out if you have any errors in dmesg dmesg | grep -i "error\|warn\|fail" can you get to a terminal or is it completely blank? I do get to a terminal. (The entire thing is a terminal screen. In the end, I get nothing else but that.) I can't believe I got that command typed in correctly...

Re: Black screen of seeming deadness

Well, I haven't found a solution to the blank screen. But I did finally figure out how to get my data from my email program and browser into the new installation of 18.3 So I guess this is moot. I can access all the old files from the new installation. I'll probably clean it up, and delete that inst...

Re: Evolution. I don't want it synced.

Pretty sure I got it fixed. I'll be backing it up every night for a while. Would have been a bit easier if I had had a more recent backup, but even a 3 year old backup helped. Here's what I did, in simple terms, and not nerdspeak... I uninstalled evolution. Actually the term used was "completel...

Re: Evolution. I don't want it synced.

Also by the way....

Evolution has not been saving a copy of the emails.

Used to be, I just left everything that I wanted to save, in the inbox of evolution. It never disappeared.

Now, if I delete the file from the online program, it disappears from evolution, never to be found again.

Re: Evolution. I don't want it synced.

Sounds simple to me, you've set up evolution using the IMAP protocol when what you want is POP3. You can google the pros and cons of each, but basically in IMAP your email provider maintains the 'master' copy of your emails - their responsibility to make sure they are backed up. Evolution maintains...
