Re: How to unlock gnome-keyring for gksu in cinnamon ?
tks. for your support. I followed your actions & was able to "simply" edit the unlock process to not have to deal with that pop-up. Besides I forgot the login password for the unlock process. I'm a newbie & feel more confident to not put up with annoying processes such as the unloc...

ESP doesn't seem to be mounted. Error Mintupdate (4.9.2)
I run Mint 17.1 on 4 PC's. Only one reports errors on Mint Update (4.9.2): partial update with error. I do not understand how to correct this issue; so please step by step the correction procedure. What I don't understand is what ESP means. I believe I installed the OS with FAT formatted disk. Thank...

Re: Skype substitutes?
My experience with Skype version 4.2.XX and being locked, out to use my Skype account; only access to the account page, but not the user page for usage: the lock out was instituted by multiple logins with error messages re. password error. Issue presented to Skype support with no fix other than sugg...

I already went thru this before.

Re: Dual boot Win 7 64-bit with Mint 9 32-bit?
correction to my post: Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner is not recognized. There is a very long sequence of terminal entries to try to get it to work. But down the list of the terminal suggestions via Epson website., is a disclaimer that "even these action may not get the scanner to work&quo...

Re: mint 9 gnome & use of Wine to run Epson scanner.
At least give us the model number of your Epson scanner . . . Epson Perfection 3170 Photo. BTW: Epson scanners (all) are not auto recognized by Ubuntu re. drivers & software. There's a great deal of "try this n that" in the search results. With even "caution: this blah, bl...

Re: Dual boot Win 7 64-bit with Mint 9 32-bit?
I assume you want to keep Mint installed and then install Windows 7 this is unusual most people have Windows then install linux. It can be done but not as simple as Windows then linux. This guide shows how to do it, its for Vista but will work for Win 7. http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with...

Re: Dual boot Win 7 64-bit with Mint 9 32-bit?
i dual boot Mint 9 (32 bit) & Win 7 (64 bit) on desktop. no problem with any hardware nor Mint programs, except Picasa older version is the only one available for Mint. Thus, I'm glad I kept win 7 as newer version of Picasa is much better: can upload to vendors to buy pics, using Win 7. I do hat...

Re: cursor insanity
Hi, I had an issue with typing in Gmail. transposition, which means the cursor just jumped about to most anywhere in above sentences. a mess. What happens is that words are inserted anywhere. so if i use an USB keyboard; this issue does not occur. also u might be touching the touchpad by mistake. Jim

Re: firefox crashes, probably flash related?
Yes, I believe the issue is "Adobe Flash" related. Firefox caused the same issue for me over & over. Crashed screen: "sorry, sorry messages" don't help. So, I installed "Chrome" as my default browser & then installed Flash. Now, I can replay highlights of the Wo...

Re: Linux Mint 9 "Isadora" RC released!
I'm very thrilled to have upgraded to Mint 9. The tutorial on "how to upgrade" was quite explicit, so that this 70 yr. young Newbie had total success. Only hardware not operational is the Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner. It didn't work under Helena either: I read the "workaround&q...
