Gimp cannot be replaced....but a inclusion of lighter software is unnecessary....for small works like scaleing rotating image,nautilus scripts are available....so right click->choose option and u are done! Instead of banging head for pinta/gimp just get worried about wine... NFS RUN,RAGE and CoD Mod...

No ubuntu menu in grub,[item missing]

i have been a mint user for 2 yrs...recently i hav moved to unity<since january>.i was enjoying ubuntu untill now but when i installed fedora 15 beta,i expected to have ubuntu option in the grub loader but it was not there!! i installed both the bootloader in a single drive...its better if i can som...

Nice...Must say gnome 3 has improved much in last 4 months!!! but unfortuantely cant install in ubuntu :( Take a look at the link I provided a few posts up---One of the guys posting on the blog is a Ubuntu'r that has G-S working on his system---from a PPA...... You bet you can install it in Ubuntu....

:shock: kernal update might help...after updating kernal make sure u remove the obsolete kernals

never the less if gimp remains static in terms of development...it might get dropout near the future.current development pace is awfull.and they dont have a big team members nor contributers...so tough luck gimp

I do not like the way Ubuntu builds the system. To use Unity in 11.04 you have to have the proprietary drivers or else it doesn't run.
