Editing Python script for Nautilus to work in Caja

Would it be possible to edit the source for Cover Thumbnailier http://projects.flogisoft.com/cover-thumbnailer/ to work with Caja? The install fails due to missing dependancies (Nautilus) but I don't think installing Nautilus to satisfy the dependancy is going to do any good. I want the thumbnails t...

Re: [LM13 MATE] - MP3 Thumbnails

Cover-Thumbnailer works with LM13 and 14 under Cinnamon, but so far I haven't been able to get it to work with either in MATE. If you want to run it under Cinnamon, download the 0.8.3 package and install via the script. For some reason the DEB file installs 0.8.2 which results in the GUI working but...

Re: Cinnamon won't load (just get wallpaper and mouse cursor

The Additional Drivers window on mine displayed two different ones. One said something about post release updates or something to that effect. I don't remember the exact wording and I'm at work on a Mac right now so I can't check. I was using the one that said (Recommended) after it at first. Then I...

Re: Cinnamon won't load (just get wallpaper and mouse cursor

I updated to the most recent nVidia driver, rebooted and logged into GNOME Classic and reset the Cinnamon panel back to the one panel at the bottom. Then logged into Cinnamon and switched to one panel at the top. So far so good and I've rebooted and logged out/logged in a few times now. This makes i...

Re: LMDE Xfce vs LM13

So far the main difference I see that would affect me is that you can not choose to install your /home directory to a separate physical drive from the / partition. My current setup is to have my / on a small SSD and my /home on a larger HHD so this would definitely be a disadvantage to switching. I ...

LMDE Xfce vs LM13

I'm thinking of switching to LMDE Xfce from LM13 Cinnamon. I've been using it as a live-CD for a few days now to get an idea of the major differences and so far it seems pretty close to what I'm use to. What are the major differences from a factual standpoint? I don't want to start a debate of opini...

Re: Cinnamon won't load (just get wallpaper and mouse cursor

Finally got around to testing this and I can confirm this bug. Cinnamon won't load if panel mode is set to Flipped (panel at top) or Classic (both top and bottom). Hopefully this will be fixed with the next update.

Cinnamon won't load (just get wallpaper and mouse cursor)

I installed LM13 Cinnamon 64 bit edition and had it working with one monitor. Then I installed the NVidia driver and enabled twin view. When I log back into Cinnamon, I only get the wallpaper and mouse cursor. There is no right click context menu, no tool bar or desktop icons and no shortcut keys wo...

What version of Mint would be best for...

I've been using Mint (standard edition) since version 9 and love it! However, I am very disappointed with GNOME 3 and not really liking MATE. I've been trying to get use to them in the LM12 RC and I am not happy with any of the available sessions for window managers. I am considering switching to a ...

Re: GNOME 3- before I give up on it completely...

proxima_centauri, Thanks for posting all of those solutions/work arounds, but if it takes that much work to get GNOME 3 the way I want it then I think I will stick with GNOME 2 or MATE. Hopefully these are all changes that will be added to GNOME 3 eventually and maybe I can give it another shot then...

GNOME 3- before I give up on it completely...

I've been usingLM12 for a few days now and there are so many things about GNOME3 I don't like, that I'm just about to give up on it completely. But before I do, I thought I'd get some community input on it and see what everyone else has done to be able to live with it an if you eventually end up lik...

Re: Problem setting up share between LM11 & FreeNAS

I just tried the code you suggested: nautilus smb://192.168.0.100 -and I was able to connect to the smb share through Nautilus now. I bookmarked it as well, so I don't have to use the code every time. Then I deleted the Unix and AFP shares from the FreeNAS settings and only left on the services for ...

Re: Problem setting up share between LM11 & FreeNAS

Sure wish I knew what system you are talking about. Renamed smb.conf on what - the FreeNAS, the Mint box. Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter. Sorry to make this so confusing. I have a lot of computers on my home network. It's hard for me to keep them straight as well. So to clarify: I have a FreeNA...

Re: Problem setting up share between LM11 & FreeNAS

Ok, well I just renamed smb.conf to force the system to write a new config file and restarted. That got the Windows shares to show back up. Yes, the NFS share is the one enabled on the FreeNAS server that SHOULD be accessible from the Linux machines on my network but is not. I tested it from another...

Re: Problem setting up share between LM11 & FreeNAS

I recently set up a FreeNAS server and have successfully enabled a Windows and Apple share, but I can not access the Unix share I set up. What do you mean by a "Windows Share", a "Apple Share", and a "UNIX share"? At first I could connect to the Windows computers on my network but now I can't even ...

Problem setting up share between LM11 & FreeNAS

I recently set up a FreeNAS server and have successfully enabled a Windows and Apple share, but I can not access the Unix share I set up. I have Samba and nfs-common installed. At first I could connect to the Windows computers on my network but now I can't even see them. I see the FreeNAS server but...

Re: LibreOffice freezes on taskbar (SOLVED)

I see this is marked as SOLVED, but so far there is only a work around. I have a little more info on the cause but I can't pin it down. @al.adab, I am having the same issue but have found that I can avoid shutting down from the terminal by restarting the xscreen with CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE and logging b...

Re: Hard to create your own distro from Mint?

I was wondering how hard it is to change the features of mint (All of them) As i was considering creating my own distro, and basing it on Mint as it seems to be closest to what i want to achieve. I just created a LiveCD of my current Mint 8 install with all the packages that I added using this tuto...

Re: Hard to create your own distro from Mint?

Hijacking an existing thread isn't really kosher, and one should start their own thread regardless if the question is similar or not. (And in this case, it's totally different.) To answer your question, yes, there are disk imaging programs that work with Linux. Clonezilla is but one of many that ca...
