Re: [SOLVED] Mint 18 - 64bit - Cinnamon - Black Screen on login

I can also confirm that I tried the fix suggested earlier in the thread, and the black screen/loss of wallpaper settings has since recurred again. Hoping it gets fixed.

Re: Mint 18 - 64bit - Cinnamon - Black Screen on login and settings being reset.

I was just searching to see if anyone else had this problem. I see exactly the same on 64 bit Cinnamon Mint 18. It was a clean install of the Beta, now fully updated. About every third time I log in, it stalls at a blank screen with the hard drive very active. I need to shut down via the power butto...

Re: Unofficial LMDE KDE Live DVD: UP4 / 201208

I played with UP5_RC1 last night with a unetbootin live usb and installed. One odd thing was running live, I couldn't connect to my wireless via the networkmanager plasma thingy. It complained I did not have permission. After installing (which went perfectly) there are no permissions issues. I love ...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I love KDE and have had no problems with it at all since 4.6 came along. In reference to heaviness, I was referring to memory consumption. with the same settings in KDE, Kubuntu and Sabayon used a good deal more memory than Mageia and LMDE for instance. Partly due to the respective update managers, ...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I mentioned earlier in this thread (or maybe the other one about Mint KDE development) that I had been trying different distros while waiting for KDE LMDE. These included Kubuntu Oneiric Beta2, Chakra, Sabayon, Zeven OS Neptune, and LMDE 201109 with KDE-standard added and all Gnome stuff removed, as...

Re: Is It Ever Going To Happen

I've been using Mageia and Mepis off and on while I wait for a Debianized Mint KDE. I love Debian based distros and they are what I'm most comfortable with, but I want an up to date KDE. So Mepis gets the short end of the stick with 4.5.3 and Kubuntu Oneiric has had me curious. I've used Kubuntu in ...

Re: LMDE Bug Reports Thread

The install went fine, and everything is up and running. My only complaint (and I suppose it is not exactly a bug) is that whereas Debian by default sets up a root account, and Ubuntu and Mint don't set a root password and use sudo by default, LMDE seems to do a combination. Some administrative apps...

Re: Mint Debian Testing

I have decided to do the same. I figured Statler had a few more of the things I needed installed already, so I installed that over my antiX installation. I saw the same problem with the really/bad gstreamer plugins not being available. I have selected all of the other mint packages and gnome-core. I...

Re: Mint Debian Testing

Has anyone here playing with Statler or antix 8.5 (or Debian Squeeze itself, for that matter) tried adding the Debian portion of the Mint repository (http://packages.linuxmint.com/list.php?release=Debian) to your apt sources? The packages seem up to date, so are presumably what Clem and Ikey are cur...
