Re: Installing printer: "unable to connect to CIFS host"

Instead of

Code: Select all

smb://maverick/EpsonStylusCX4800
try with the IP address of the XP machine.

Code: Select all

smb://192.168.1.0/EpsonStylusCX4800
Replace 192.168.1.0 with the XP IP address. See if that works for you.

Re: Cant drag windows between screens

Have you configured TwinView in nvidia-settings?

I think that if you have it set as separate X screens, then you won't be able to drag windows across monitors.

Re: Can I customise desktop icons?

I'm using 11 with the gnome desktop, so other desktops may be different in the way they do it. Right click on your web link on the desktop and select Properties. On the first tab called Basic is a little square that can be clicked. It will open up a file dialog box. On the left you'll see various pl...

It might help. http://eric.biven.us/2008/02/08/ubuntu-and-that-clicking-noise-coming-from-your-hard-drive/ There's also an old Ubuntu forum thread discussing this issue. The issue was solved for this user, so maybe it might help you. htt...

Re: Unable To Get Shred Function To Work In Nautilus Actions

I found this post on Ubuntu Forums about the problem. It appears that the version in 11.04 is full of problems. I've installed Mint 11 in a vm and found the problems you have encountered. I took the advice from one post about downgrading Nautilus Actions, and found that the actions I created worked....

Re: problems with virtual box

You can always change the UUID of the disk image you are working with. Open a terminal and run VBoxManage internalcommands sethduuid /pathtoimage/disk.vdi If successful, it will return the following message UUID changed to: 3f46a3d2-a94b-4ddf-aea6-e48433549c9e You should now be able to load that ima...

Re: wallpapoz run on boot-what am i doing wrong

It works fine this way on Mint 10 Gnome. I use Compiz, so I'm unsure what the issue is. You could always try by disabling compiz and see what happens.

Why are you using /home/mint/wallpapoz-0.5/src/ as the path to start daemon_wallpapoz?

Re: wallpapoz run on boot-what am i doing wrong

the way to do this seems to be to add a start-up command with "start-up applications" am i right? the command i am using is : /home/mint/wallpapoz-0.5/src/daemon_wallpapoz. it runs fine if i try it in a terminal, but does nothing as a start-up app. is there some error in this command, or something ...

Re: Stuck with printer settings

I'll tell you how I set printers up. I have an Epson Artisan printer. Sometimes I want to print black and white and sometimes colour. Some documents I need done as duplex. Re: swap partition disappeared after dist-upgrade

Resizing scares me too. You could always do this to add a swap file.

Surf to http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-add- ... ile-howto/

Hope this helps. I had to do this a while ago, and it works very well.
