Re: Logitech Media Server

Are you sure you have any necessary firewall ports open for your setup? No, I'm not sure. That, really, is my question - what do I have to do to access port 9000 locally? I have been running LMDE with Logitech Media Server (LMS) for years and it always "just worked", I have never needed to muck abo...

Re: Logitech Media Server

HI BRB, Just out of curiosity, why aren't you using the super easy to install and use "PS3 Media server", or one of the other Linux media servers? Hi phd21, Because that's the only media server I know of that works with my Slim Devices Squeezebox https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squeezebox_%28network_...

<Solved> Logitech Media Server

I've installed the Logitech Media Server v. 7.7.5 (http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download) on my LMDE2 box, and have also installed apache2/php/mysql. Apache is working, e.g., if I browse to 'localhost' I get the "Apache2 Debian Default Page" confirming the webserver is set up. Logitech Media Server i...

Re: /home partition filling up

Thanks for the replies. Of course, since I posted it hasn't happened again and I still have 1.1Tb free. Next time it fills up I'll follow the advice to track down the culprit.

/home partition filling up

I have an LMDE desktop system on an AMD A8 processor, with a 3Tb drive, partitioned as follows (using ext4): Partition Mount Point Size /dev/sda1 /boot/efi 100M /dev/sda2 / 30G /dev/sda3 /home 2.7T On boot, there is about 1.1Tb free on the /home partition. The machine is either on or in suspend mode...

Re: Blank screen post-grub after installation

Thanks for the reply. Strangely enough, I left the laptop for a day, and when I next turned it on it booted normally and hasn't repeated the same behaviour since. Not sure what was going on here.

[SOLVED] Blank screen post-grub after installation

I've just installed the latest LMDE amd64 (03/2014) from a USB stick on a Lenovo G505s (AMD A8), installation to dual boot Win8 and LMDE. Everything works perfectly when booting from the live USB stick, looks great. However, when rebooting from the HD after the installation, after grub the system go...

Re: Gparted - Cannot create 2.7Tb partition

Thanks for all the advice on this; my machine is an AMD A8, does not use secureboot/EFI. It appears I did the right thing (partition the drive using GPT prior to install) without knowing it was the right thing.

Re: Gparted - Cannot create 2.7Tb partition

I just noticed on the LMDE Known issues page, http://www.linuxmint.com/rel_debian.php , it says the following: No EFI/GPT support Linux Mint Debian requires BIOS and a traditional partitioning scheme. I didn't see this until after I had partitioned the drive using GPT and installed LMDE. I was able ...

Re: Gparted - Cannot create 2.7Tb partition

Are you using MBR or GPT partitioning? MBR is limited to 2TB partition size. GPT allows for 16TB(I think?). Read this link: http://askubuntu.com/questions/84538/tr ... osed-error That was it. Chose GPT partitioning and was able to set it up with no difficulties. First time I've used a drive over 2T...

AMD A-8 3850 / Raedon HD 6550D graphics deteriorating

I'm have an LMDE system running Cinnamon on an AMD A8-3850 processor, which includes Raedon HD 6550D video ("Beavercreek"). I'm using the proprietary ATI video drivers. It works well enough; however, there are some glitches. First, hover boxes (the small box that pops up when you hover over a link/c...

Would you mind uploading the .deb file you made or emailing it?
Would post it, but it seems that this forum doesn't allow attachments (or at least not .deb files).

SOLVED: Re: Using an .rpm i386 printer driver on amd64 syste

Multiarch solved the problem. Lucky for that bug in Linux Mint 14 I mentioned above, gave me the solution. The failed dependencies that came up from installing the .deb file appeared to be noted by the apt package manager, so after setting up multiarch to install the necessary i386 packages, the mis...

Re: Using an .rpm packaged i386 driver on an LMDE amd64 sys

Thanks for your replies, now it makes more sense why this doesn't work. Just noticed the latest post on the Linux Mint front page, http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2211 is talking about Multiarch - http://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch . Could that solve the dependency problem? I may give it a try. The other...
